The Helping Hound Story

Helping Hound was launched on November 3rd, 2018 by founders Christian and Saundi Theodossiou to help the animal community, locally and nationwide. With the high number of animals rescued each year, shelters struggle with limited resources to provide care and food. A comfortable bed is a luxury. That is where Helping Hound provides a solution with our “You buy, We donate” program.

“We wanted to give back to the community by using the resources we already have,” says founder and owner Christian Theodossiou. “Chances are, most pet owners who are searching for the perfect bed for their dog or cat also care about local animals in need. We created Helping Hound as a solution. Through our ‘A bed for a bed’ program, our customers purchase a high-quality Helping Hound bed for their own pet, and we donate a bed for an animal in need.”

Helping Hound partners with local and national animal shelters to uphold their “You Buy, We Donate” promise. Their first rescue partner, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, also based in Asheville, N.C., was founded in 2007 to provide the resources and life-saving programs to build No-Kill communities. Each year, Brother Wolf rescues and provides care to more than 6,000 animals.

"This partnership with Helping Hound is great for our animals, especially the seniors,” says Audrey Lodato, Brother Wolf’s Director of Animal Care. “Being able to provide them with a comfortable bed to lie on is just one more compassionate thing we can do to keep them safe and comfortable while they await their forever homes."
