Hey everyone! We need help! These two precious dogs need furever homes ASAP! We'll offer free veterinary care for both of them for the next 6 months. That includes exams, vaccines, and heartworm prevention. They are seniors looking for a loving home. Both are house trained and very sweet! I will try to get better pictures tomorrow.... this is on their ride to our home where they will stay temporarily.

If there is any way in which you can help the victims of Hurricane Helene it will be much appreciated! If you want to donate monetarily, the funds will be used to purchase needed medical suppies, if you would like to help that way. I will be taking a few donated items with me from Missouri to meet with colleagues in SC or NC, who will distribute supplies where needed.

Several items have already beem donated by Lindquist Veterinary Care Center in Kirksville, Missouri and also Friendly Faces Mobile Animal Services in Columbia, South Carolina

Don't forget the importance of Heartworm Prevention. This is a video of a baby Heartworm in a dog with a positive Heartworm Antigen test, which means there are adult Heartworms present in the bloodstream also. The adults can grow as long as 10 to 12 inches in length and look kind of like angel hair pasta.

If you have any dairy cows or know any dairy farmers, I'm sure they've been informed but be aware of the new mandatory testing of lactating dairy cows for Highly Pathogenic Influenza A (HPIA) H5N1

USDA APHIS published a federal order requiring the following actions, effective Monday, April 29:

• Mandatory testing for interstate movement of dairy cattle - Prior to interstate movement, lactating dairy cattle are required to receive a negative test for Influenza A virus at an approved National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) laboratory using a NAHLN-approved assay (currently only PCR on milk).

Probably the biggest dog head I've had in my hands! He weighed 175 pounds but I swear he was closer to 200 pounds! He is a very sweet puppy though!
