Hey you, yes you! While you’re out playing with snow balls today, think about how much happier and healthier your dog would be without any.

Sounds a little crazy, right? Many people don’t know that male dogs run a risk for testicular cancer and prostate cancer. These chances can be significantly reduced by neutering them at an appropriate age. Neutering can also reduce undesired behaviors such as marking, the desire to roam, and even some cases of aggression depending on the animal. We want to help your pet live a long, healthy life!

Can Sheeba crash with you for a few days??

We desperately want to find Sheeba a foster so she can enjoy time in a home before transport! She is 2 years old, 50 lbs, dog and people friendly, and super adorable as you can see. She just needs a place to crash until 2/7 when she makes her way to Pennsylvania to find her new family 🐾

Message us if you can help! We really want to find her somewhere before the bad weather gets here so she can be cozy on a couch for that time. Foster must be local to Columbus, GA.

It’s about to get COLD in down here in south AL/GA! As you prepare for the coming week, please remember the 4 P’s —

•PEOPLE: Check in on your loved ones, friends, neighbors, etc. Especially those who could be more vulnerable to this weather.

•PIPES: Out pipes aren’t used to this weather. Be sure to leave a faucet dripping & insulate where you can to prevent frozen and burst pipes.

•PETS: Your pets do not need to stay outside in this weather! Keep them warm. Bring them in. If you have community cats, provide them with an outdoor shelter if possible.

•PLANTS: Don’t forget about your green friends! If you have outdoor plants, bring them in or cover them up to try to protect them from the freezing temps.

HELP! We need a foster for Sheeba!

We pulled her from CACC earlier this week and she has been boarding with one of our vet partners, but she has to be out tomorrow! She leaves on transport 2/7 so she just needs a place to crash for 3 weeks. She is dog friendly and has a good, calm demeanor. We will provide everything you need- food, toys, kennel, collar and leash, etc.

Please let us know if you can help. Foster must be local to Columbus, GA or in the immediate surrounding areas.

We may or may not have gone on a little rescuing spree at Columbus Animal Care & Control Center- resulting in 6 new Animal SOS dogs in less than a week’s time 🤭 We are so excited about the transition that will soon be taking place with Paws Humane Society and we are eager to help them get dogs out while they work on building improvements. Here’s to that!

Now we need your help with their vet care! Thankfully CACC has been getting dogs fixed while in their care (HUGE win for our community!) so most of these babies have already been spayed/neutered, but we still need to get them all heartworm tested (and treated if positive), do f***l tests and deworm them, update any vaccines needed, get them started on flea/tick and heartworm preventions, and anything else they may need! We are looking at a minimum of $150 per dog, and that’s assuming they are already fixed and healthy and don’t need any extra medical care.

Please help us get these CACC babies ready to go to their forever families! All donations are tax deductible 😊

Very valuable information from our rescue partner about littermate syndrome!

🐾 Understanding Littermate Syndrome: Why It’s Important for Your Pup’s Development 🐾

Did you know that adopting two puppies from the same litter can sometimes lead to a condition called Littermate Syndrome? While it may seem like a perfect match, raising two puppies together can create challenges in their social and emotional development.

Littermate Syndrome occurs when puppies form a deep bond only with each other and not with humans or other dogs. This can result in:

✔️ Separation Anxiety: When apart, they may experience extreme stress or destructive behavior.
✔️ Fear or Aggression: Difficulty adapting to new situations or people, leading to fear or aggression.
✔️ Underdeveloped Social Skills: They might struggle to interact with other dogs or people outside of their sibling.

If you’re adopting two puppies from the same litter or even at the same time, it’s crucial to invest in individual training, separate time apart, and plenty of socialization with people and other dogs. 🐶💕

PACK9 does not adopt puppies at the same time so that each adopted furbaby can have time to acclimate and bond. We recommend 2-3+ months between introducing new dog into the home.

Emily Elizabeth was not thrilled with the weather today. She found the spot on the couch right in front of the heater and that’s where she’s stayed all day 🤣

See this cutie pie? His name is Remi and we desperately need a foster for him until 2/7!

He is extremely dog friendly, kid friendly, and has even spent a few days in a home with cats and had no issues. He is about 5 years old, 55 lbs, and a total love bug. He isn’t available for adoption as he already has some humans in Pennsylvania who are very excited to meet him. He simply needs a place to crash for a few weeks until his transport date.

Marshall is getting that gOoOoOod sleep after taking the no more puppy pledge today😴

We saved Marshall from Columbus Animal Care & Control Center yesterday. Thankfully he was a healthy boy, so all his vetting was able to get taken care of very quickly! His total bill for his neuter, microchip, dewormer, heartworm test, and preventions was $334.78 - Are you able to spare a few dollars to help? All donations are tax deductible!

One day isn’t enough to capture all the appreciation these men & women deserve! We are beyond thankful for all of the law enforcement officers that serve our community day in and day out.

We are especially thankful for the support that have shown us, from coming to our lemonade stand this summer to helping us navigate difficult cases to giving one of our hospice dogs a ride in a police car to cross it off his bucket list.
