Lori Darlin’ 😍 thank you for England Cattle Co. Polled Brahmans for featuring this heifer! Excited for the future would be an understatement, even more blessed to call the England family friends!

If you like your females broody, then ECC K-K Polled Lori Darlin 636/1 is your girl! She is one of the soggiest-made females on our Houston show string, exhibiting an extreme amount of depth, capacity and stoutness. When you look at her visual pedigree, we find she favors her paternal granddam, D Bar Miss 768/1.

Her maternal characteristics can also been seen on paper, as she charts positive for Milk, Calving Ease and Weaning Weight. These traits are consistent with ECC Polled Chief 719 progeny, which stem from a long line of maternal merit genetics from D Bar Ranch. On the bottom side of her pedigree, Polled Lori Darlin is out of ECC K-K Polled Kylie 733 who combines the proven genetics of JDH Mr. Manso 840 "The Graduate" and LMC LF Polled Elma 214/4. With a pedigree of this caliber, it should be no surprise that 25 animals in her pedigree carry a Register of Renown, Maternal Merit or Vanguard distinction.

What does it take to be a leader? Practice what you preach! In 2020, we introduced the Zoetis Horn/Poll DNA test into our program. At the time, we were collecting samples on all of our "Smooth Polled" calves and sending them off to be tested for the Homozygous Polled gene, this soon adapted to testing calves with Polled or Polled-Scurred parents on both sides of their pedigree. While this was certainly helpful, we couldn't help but wonder if we were overlooking some of our calf crop simply due to human error. Today, we are proud to say that every calf, regardless of its head shape or parentage, is tested for the Horn/Poll gene! With so much uncertainty in the market these days, we firmly believe this gives our customers the added confidence in the product they are buying. The hatching first round on her test run (the cool incubator) has begun! About 4:00 this morning #4 popped out! Only 60 more to go in the coming weeks!

Kady’s shifted gears again from her eggs for sale to eat, to hatching chicks. Barnyard mixes. Great Momma hens, wonderful layers, even in cold temps they have averaged 1 egg a day to 1 every other day per hen.

End of January she will have approximately 20-40 chicks ready to go or she can put you down for pullets ready to go by April laying by May-June. Price just goes up due to care and feed costs!

All chicks and pullets are handled with care and non-medicated non-gmo feed!

In terms of genetic merit, is there any difference in the fertility of a Brahman heifer that gives birth to a Brahman calf, and a Brahman heifer that gives birth to an F1 calf? We don’t think so either, and that’s why we’re proud to announce our new initiative to help you link your herds together.

If you have both an ABBA Annual Membership and an ABBA F1 Membership, your cows may not be getting full credit for the calves being produced in your herd! By linking your memberships in our system, registered Brahman females will get credit for all of the calves that they produce, purebred and F1 calves alike!

Once the accounts are linked, females can attain genetic merit awards for F1 calves, meaning that awards like Maternal Merit can be more easily reached for females that are not exclusively bred to Brahman bulls. This even helps Brahman bulls, by helping more of them attain Maternal Performance Sire status.

All you need to do is reach out to the office at 979-485-5528 or [email protected] with the two account numbers, and we’ll link them for you absolutely free! And while you’re at it, don’t forget to get those F1 calves certified and registered so your buyers can shop with confidence that they are getting a bona fide F1. Certified and Golden Certified F1 calves have been shown to bring more money at the sale barn than non-certified F1-type calves, time and time again. What are you waiting for?
