One year ago today.. Ajax enjoying the rare bout of snow in our area of Oregon. This was 3 months before he went missing in Maryland.

Ajax is truly my sons dog. He got him as a 10 week puppy just after he graduated high school. Well things change & Chase decided to enlist in the Air Force. Ajax of course, stayed here with me on our small farm in Sweet Home, Oregon. Really, that is the name of our hometown. ☺️ Chase finished boot camp in San Antonio Tx, then finished his technical training in San Angelo Tx. He is blessed with wonderful, adventurous grandparents who took Ajax to Texas to visit his boy during tech school for a few days. Chase was able to come home for a few weeks before he departed to his duty station, Fort Meade in Maryland and spend more time with his pup, Ajax. There was never a question as to who’s dog Ajax was. He absolutely loves his boy & his boy loves him. But when Chase wasn’t around, he was attached to me at the hip.
A few months later, Chase received his off base housing. He found a home with a fenced yard & made arrangements with the property owner to allow Ajax to come live with him. The day that happened, he called & was so excited - he had already been to Costco & bought a giant fluffy bed, new dishes & dog food - he called to me to figure out how to get Ajax 3000 miles across the country without traumatizing him. We knew flying was out - too many horror stories. But of course his adventurous grandparents were all in & agreed to make the trek with sweet Ajax to live with his boy. I made sure all of Ajax’s vet records, shots & microchip was in order the week before the big departure. I hesitated a bit, not knowing what Maryland was like, but hearing how excited Chase was each time I spoke with him, any doubt was diminished.
