Sadly, this is just the way it is! I feel that it won’t be long until no kill shelters will be a thing of the past.
Rescues are having to make some difficult choices with their funding, time and space. You have to ask yourself how much $ is too much to save a very sick animal who comes into a rescue for care? We recently had to think about that, but this was after I accepted his relinquishment. We were blessed to have figured out what he had (puppy strangles) immediately or else the cost for his care could have broke our small rescue. We were also blessed that a number of people donated to his care.
He has recovered and will be heading to his new home the beginning of July. I’ve had him since April 1st with the first 2 weeks of his care being round the clock.
For us to rescue funds are needed, fosters are needed, low cost or no cost spay neuter programs or vouchers are needed, supplies are always needed, adopters are needed. The list is never ending.
Pupdate: She is safe. Beth has added a tag for this girl. See comments for more info.
PREGNANT. TRIGGER WARNING. LOSE FAITH IN RESCUE WARNING.

This is a plea to RESCUE. See, I don’t normally tag rescues, like no way, I’d be mad if they tagged me. So I’m not tagging anybody.
This post is also for the networkers that will tag me on this dog, probably lose faith in Rescue and probably won’t be able to sleep tomorrow night, and will ask how I will be able to because I cannot take her and no one is going to step up with what we need if I did take her.
I cannot, and will not, stress my staff, the 200 dogs onsite at the rescue now, or our future, by taking on a case that we absolutely cannot afford mentally or financially.

There are also six other healthy adoptable huskies on the euthanasia lists today in three Oklahoma shelters. If I have space for mom and puppies then I have space for six adult dogs instead.
So let’s just go ahead and have the conversation now.
THE ONLY WAY that I could take this girl is if somebody wants to front the 10k that her rescue and her babies will cost as well as somebody that will keep all those babies in their home and find them homes themselves.
Under no circumstances, can I bring this dog to the rescue, so, if no one steps up for her, she will be euthanized tomorrow, and it is not my freaking fault and not only will I reach through Facebook and smack you, demand to know why you didn’t step up, but I will block you from seeing H3 huskies anywhere.
Now that that’s off my chest I hope those that think that I am the savior of all the Huskies will just not go there.
If there is a rescue out there that will take this husky, I’ll pledge 500 to take care of mommies needs.
So there it is. I’m telling you now. I cannot take this dog.
If somebody wants to drop that billion I’ll build a mommy Rescue building on my property and take all the mommies. In the meantime, I’ve already given up $1 million of my own money my family, my home, my time, hell even my marriage and my sanity for these huskies and yes, this is me projecting my future guilt for not taking the dog.
So who’s got $10,000 and 10 weeks plus up to 10 homes for who knows what breed of puppies, because somebody didn’t bother to spay her and give her life she deserves?
