This guy and many who put their 🐾prints on these furry lives we salute you!

They always seemed to pass me by, I never knew the reason why.
All my friends had found a home, And only I remained alone.
But finally somebody came, And spoke to me with gentle tone.
I hardly dared believe it true, Into my human's arms I flew.
Our first embrace - my heart beat fast,
A family of my own at last!
And when tonight I rest my head, In my new warm and cosy bed A prayer I'll send, high up above,
May all the shelter pups find love."

UPDATE: ADOPTED!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Desperately seeking a Foster/Adopter 💔

***ACE is still at the shelter*** He is having a very tough time, please help share his story and/or let me know if you can help through fostering or adopting him. He’s located at Great Plains SPCA. Please contact them for more information.

The animal shelter is at capacity and the pets keep coming. A shelter is no place for a puppy. Every shelter is full, it is a nationwide crisis.
Ace is a 3 month old, Australian Shepherd that came to us from “a commercial puppy breeder”. He is currently petrified at the shelter. He is in urgent need of foster as he is so scared he shakes.

If you can help foster or adopt, please let me know. Please contact Great Plains SPCA.
THANK YOU!

We ❤️ you, Ace!

Oh little pups! Whose in?

We recently received a transfer of seven chihuahuas from Kansas City Pet Project, and their story is truly heartbreaking. 😔

Their previous owner ended up hospitalized, with no one in the immediate family prepared to keep all of them. Especially when one of them was found to be pregnant, due to give birth in the next few weeks. They are shy at first, but have slowly begun to make friends at the shelter. We've found that this group thrives in the company of other dogs, and are ready for their forever home!

If you are interested in any of these sweet faces, please reach out to our Adoptions Team: (913) 831 - 7722 or [email protected]

Reaching out to our followers as we are still in need of straw and hay. We are getting low and use this to help keep our pups warm. We also help the community in need.

We've got some bitter cold coming everyone. And it has the potential of being deadly.

Our chief vet, Dr. Washington, offered these thoughts:

"Use caution when the temperature drops below 40-45 degrees Fahrenheit It's potentially unsafe for small and medium-sized dogs with thin coats to be outside. If you are cold with a coat and hat, it is a guarantee your pet is also cold. Pets can also succumb to frostbite on the ears, tails and toes if left outside too long in freezing conditions. When the wind chill and temperature drop to below freezing frostbite is a risk and when temperatures drop below 0 it is potentially life threatening."

This is where we're headed later this week. Single digits and even below zero, with windchills going dramatically lower than that.

If you see a pet outside without adequate shelter, please call KCMO animal control at 311 from 7 to 7 weekdays. Or 816-683-1383 for after hours or weekends.

If you don't live in KCMO, reach out to your city's animal control.

DOG ADOPTERS AND FOSTERS URGENTLY NEEDED!

Our canine intake numbers are at a record high. We need your help to make space for the ever-increasing number of animals coming into our doors out of the cold. Our kennels are officially full, and we have dogs like Custard, a 29 pound, four-year-old sweetheart, waiting in wire pop-up kennels in our indoor playrooms. We need your help more than ever, KC!

What does it take to foster? Your home can become a temporary safe haven for a dog in need, at no cost to yourself. We provide all the food, supplies, and medical care; you provide the time and TLC. We have dozens of medium to large adult dogs who would prefer to stretch their legs in your loving home rather than awaiting adoption here in a wire crate.

For the love of Jack...

It all started when I met a lab named Jack. I’ve had dogs before, a Boston named Sadie, a cat named Luna, and a kitten named Maggie. I knew that this was something different something special. He came with a fella I met and was the most loving, gentle giant a girl could have. We spent lots of years playing, running, slobbering, snuggling, more walks and you get the picture, but then age started to creep up on our strong and gentle bones, muscles and joints. We went to vet for water therapy, healthy holistics powders, good things, but still needed a little more love to help Jack along with his tired muscles. Searching all over I began to see that there was a need for someone to do dog massage locally. This is how it all started. I got certified in Colorado, and kept Jack on track to provide some aid to our regular regimen to keep him afloat, literally his hind legs. This is how Paws to Pause was created. We are pawing...paying it forward for my gentle giant - Jack dog.
