This is Snowball. Snowball came here afraid of his own shadow and pr*****ed. Since being here he’s had to have 2 surgeries to fix his prolapse. Unfortunately this isn’t unusual. Once they prolapse there is always a chance of reoccurrence. He’s also off his anti anxiety drugs now too. Hopefully he won’t prolapse again because there’s a concern that he may not be able to be fixed the next time.

Poor Jackie O!!! I almost forgot about her! She came to me after 2 years of what her family assumed was picking and mutilating of her face…and she was! As it turns out Jackie has a slow growing cancer but due to her scratching it…it had become infected. Unfortunately now that the infection is gone and we can see exactly where the cancer is…she is not a candidate for removal surgery. It’s just to close to her eye. Thankfully we can continue to treat the infections as they arise (she was just put back on doxy last week) and the cancer is show growing.

This is Petie. Petie was relinquished to his vet after a life threatening/changing event. He went into the vet on death’s door. Tests were done…all came back negative. When he started to come around he had a very noticeable tilt to his head…whether it was a slight stroke or a toxin he may have gotten in to we will never know. He still has a very slight tilt to his head. He’s so funny though…he literally whines and carries on like he might starve to death until you get to his cage with food in the morning. I can only describe it as a whine because I’ve never heard a bird do it before!!!

This is Buddy. For those who follow the rescue page you know his story. Long story short…he was adopted out…a year or so later the guy got into drugs. I found out that he flipped his birds for drug money. It was only by chance that I was able to find Buddy and that person gave him back to me. Buddy and I are pretty bonded. When I get up in the middle of the night…he always asks “Are you OK?” Probably because I asked him so much when I found him again!

This is Daquiri!!!! Yes!!! The water stomper that screams “Yipee” when she’s doing it!!! Every time. Over and over. Daq is about 20 years old and a mutilator. She seems to do OK as long as she has the collar on and she’s so used to it that she literally takes her foot and just turns it when she feels it’s in her way! Daq came to us after her mom had a premie baby whose lungs couldn’t handle the powder from Daq. She also says “I’ll be good.” quite a bit that she probably learned from the toddler in the house.

Kiwi is a 3 year old Panama Amazon. Hatched completely blind and with a malformed crop. Kiwi has been with since the time of weaning. Although we’ve been able to convert her to a large carrier since this picture was taken, she completely shuts down if put into a normal cage.

PJ came to us after someone bought him from Parrot Jungle. What Parrot Jungle failed to disclose to them is that PJ has a habit of mutilating his feet. So they were shocked to discover one toe completely black one day. After taking him to a vet that quoted them 1600 to remove his entire leg…they called us. We took him in to Rainforest Clinic…his entire leg did not need to be amputated and Dr. Jena did amazing as usual! We have since started him on CBD and a healthy diet. He hasn’t picked at his feet since but we are watching him closely!

JJ is a super senior! She’s at least 33 years old. We know this because she has an import band on. They stopped importing these amazons 33 years ago. She’s had a rough life…I believe it was prior to the man who surrendered her. Unfortunately her mom died and dad is moving back to Italy. She’s not tame but she is accepting. Her liver values are slightly high which is not uncommon for a bird her age.
