Wow, what a day! The perfect weather, fantastic turnout, and lots of smiles! Thanks to everyone who came out to ride in this year's event. You helped raise over $3,000 for our therapeutic riding program!!

Congratulations to our poker hand winners:
High Hand ($100): Kimberly Hunt
2nd High Hand ($75): Anna Payne
Low Hand ($25): Sarah Guthrie

We appreciate all the support! It's been a joy hosting this event and seeing the new & returning faces each year.

*PSA, we had a ride participant lose a teal & yellow Wells Lamont glove and another one lost two scoot boots on the trail. If you come across either, let us know and we can get you in touch with them!

The snow is hasn’t melted much, but the days are getting longer and spring has to be getting close! This seems like it’s been a really long winter vacation and the horses have been missing all their riders. Studies have shown that association with horses gives riders a boost in confidence, self-awareness and self-esteem. Sometimes these benefits show up right away, and sometimes it takes a few rides before you might see a difference. Our goal, as instructors, is to build upon each lesson’s objectives to reach the goals that we set for your rider. The amount of growth that you will see depends on many factors, more growth will be seen the more time that is spent riding.
Scheduling is open and I want to get you on our list! We will be starting adapted riding lessons April 12 and will continue through October. Obviously, this is weather dependent, but we are optimistic about it! We will not be offering hippotherapy again this year. However, we encourage all interested in hippotherapy to give therapeutic riding a try! Most riders see similar improvements to motor function and stamina from both activities. Reserve your spot by contacting us or at the following link!

Spring is just around the corner (yay!) and it’s time to start recruiting camp horses! We’ve had a lot of changes in our personal herds in the last three years, so we’re looking at needing 4-5 beginner safe horses to round out the string.
▪️Location: YMCA Camp Reed (just east of Deer Park)
▪️Timeframe: Camp runs July 16-28. We will likely pull in borrowed horses the week prior to camp to get them ready.
▪️Requirements: We teach beginner (walk/minimal trot) lessons in the arena and easy 1-3 mile trail rides. Horses need to be able to stand tied and get along in a herd (horses are pastured in suitable personality groupings).
▪️Horses are reimbursed for hours worked at camp - it’s a great resume builder or job for your retired confidence builder, plus they earn some money towards their hay bill! If you have a horse that might fit the bill, please message us!

Horse Heritage Educational Program is looking for wranglers for the 2023 camp season. We work with YMCA Camp Reed to provide the horse unit for camp. To put on an educational, safe, and fun horse program at camp, we rely on some fantastic horses and wranglers, and each year we look to add some new members to our team!
For more information on HHEP, becoming a wrangler, or leasing out your horse for camp, check out our website at www.horseheritage.org

Not only do our students love to smile for the camera, so does Timer!
We're having a great time with our summer session, and are thankful we have plenty of shade in the morning to keep us cool!
