Yesterday was Veterinary Appreciation Day and we wanted to recognize and thank those in the veterinary field, especially our staff at AVH. We also want to thank you for choosing us to be your veterinary care team!

In the theme of veterinary care, we will be closed tomorrow, 6/20, as our doctors will be attending a conference to further their knowledge; which will help them continue to bring quality care to you and your pets. We will be back in office on Monday, the 23rd.

Please reach out to WestVet on Chinden or Ten Mile, Viking Veterinary Hospital, Treasure Valley Veterinary Hospital (for Friday urgent care), Boise Animal Health and Urgent Care, and All Valley Animal Care Center for any emergencies or urgent care concerns.

In remembrance of our fallen heroes we will be closed Memorial Day, 5/26, to be with our families and friends. Thank you for your understanding.

We are deeply grateful for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Our thoughts are with their families and friends as they navigate life without their loved one. 🇺🇸

For immediate concerns, please go to WestVet (locations on Chinden and Ten Mile), Viking Veterinary Hospital, All Valley Animal Care Center, or Boise Animal Health and Urgent Care (9am-2pm, walk ins only).

Thank you for the opportunity to support our community! We hope it has been an amazing season.

Lillies may be beautiful and very "the thing" for Easter but they are not so great for our pets. They are toxic to both cats and dogs.

Here are a few other things to be mindful of at this time of year (or anytime):
- Chocolate
- Xylitol
- Raisins/Grapes
- Spring bulbs
- Daffodils
- Herbicides and Pesticides (ingesting, contact, residues)
- Plastic Easter eggs
- Decorative grasses
- Toys and Tools for the season

If your pet does ingest or is affected by any of these please seek medical attention. There are a few options if we are not available,
Pet Poison Helpline 855-764-7661. There is a fee.
ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center 888-426-4435. May be a fee.

**Still Missing** Good morning, we are asking for help, especially around our Meridian clinic, in watching for a lost cat. One of our patients escaped from his parent at our clinic on Amity Road. Please look for a grey, black andd white long haired Maine C**n mix and let us know at 208-506-6311 if you see him.

Staff training and fun are very high on our list at Ada Vet. So we combined them for an all staff meeting to teach each other a new skill. Techs learned how to use our scheduling system, doctors learned how to check in a patient, and reception learned how to do an ear cleaning; to name a few. We also had added in some games that gave us some good laughs.

Providing the best quality care is our goal and we want to create a work environment that is conducive to that. If our staff feel appreciated and competent then we can better serve you and your pets. 🐾

I was honored to volunteer as a Trail Vet for the Idaho Sled Dog Challenge last week! The camaraderie among mushers was remarkable to witness in such an extreme sport.

This year’s race had a Polar Vortex bringing tons of snow and rain. Unfortunately, this led to extreme avalanche risks. The teams already had to traverse several avalanches on their journey. At their first checkpoint, the 200 mile race got cancelled but at least most of the 100 mile teams finished before the race was cut short. Despite this the vet teams still got to go strong monitoring dogs throughout the night. I was able to be stationed at the 100 miler finish line which was awesome to see the mix of emotions. The mushers would go down the line praising each of their dogs who seemed like they could have kept running forever.

I’m trying to train my younger dog, Clara, to be a sled dog now! Who says Golden Retrievers can’t do it? –Dr. Maleki
