Midwestern University is advancing veterinary education with the development of the Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine–Illinois on the Downers Grove Campus. Kathleen H. Goeppinger, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern University, announced the decision to add veterinary medicine to the healthcare degrees offered on the Downers Grove Campus in response to the growing need for skilled veterinarians who can provide comprehensive care for large and small animals.
In addition, the new College will help address the need for critical research to aid in public health and the demand for qualified professionals to serve as leaders and educators within the veterinary profession. The proposal for the new college is currently being reviewed by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education. Pending accreditation approval, the first class is expected to matriculate in 2026.

It's Valley Fever Awareness Week! 🐾🌵 Our furry friends are at risk of Valley Fever, which can cause various symptoms, including respiratory issues, seizures, or lameness. We strongly urge all our clients to have a conversation with their pet’s primary care provider about testing for Valley Fever. Early detection can make all the difference in your pet's health.
Happy first day of Valley Fever Awareness Week! For the next several days there will be different events to increase awareness of Valley fever. On our page, we will be sharing a surplus of educational materials or news articles related to Valley fever that we invite you all to read to improve your own understanding of what Valley fever is and how it impacts our community. Working as a team, our faculty veterinarians and students utilize the latest technology and treatments to provide exceptional veterinary care at affordable prices. We treat your animals as if they were members of our own family.
As Arizona’s only College of Veterinary Medicine, Midwestern University educates the next generation of veterinarians while providing healthcare for the local animal community. The Animal Health Institute at Midwestern University’s Glendale Campus offers comprehensive primary and specialty veterinary care services, with faculty and students providing treatment via three specialized facilities – the Companion Animal Clinic, the Equine and Bovine Center, and the Diagnostic Pathology Center.
The 111,800 square foot Companion Animal Clinic (623-806-7387) is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). This state-of the art facility is equipped for all of your pets’ healthcare needs, including laparoscopic and arthroscopic surgery suites, a dental suite, digital radiology, CT scan, fluoroscopy, ultrasonography, nuerology, dialysis, and a physical rehabilitation suite featuring an underwater treadmill.
The College of Veterinary Medicine also operates a small animal mobile clinic. Through a grant from PetSmart Charities, the University and its veterinary students are able to provide primary and preventive care services for owners of cats and dogs in underserved and underprivileged communities throughout Arizona.
The 70,000 square foot Equine and Bovine Center (623-806-7575) is devoted to veterinary education, research, and pathology for large animal medicine, farmers, ranchers, and food producers. Examples of services provided include lameness exams, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, animal reproduction services, and general medical care including vaccinations, deworming, and wellness exams, as well as specialty surgical services and equine rehabilitation. The Equine and Bovine Center also offers a Large Animal Ambulatory service by appointment to perform on-site treatment for horses, cattle, goats, and other farm animal species throughout the state.
The Diagnostic Pathology Center serves veterinary practices and is the most advanced anatomic pathology facility in the state of Arizona, staffed by American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) certified anatomic pathologists and American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) licensed necropsy and histology technicians. These professionals offer comprehensive diagnostic services including postmortem examination, histopathology, biopsy evaluation, and diagnostic immunohistochemistry to veterinarians working in private large and small animal practices, zoo and wildlife organizations, law enforcement agencies, and other organizations.
