Ullo, adopted by Pete and Bert Kaiser, shares his adoption story:
Hi my name is Ullo. My new family came to meet and greet me in April. My new mom picked me up and gave me some kisses. I tell you that was the first of oodles of kisses I get every day. My mom says I landed my butt in the buttercup. Not exactly sure what that means. Except we go hiking, camping, traveling, shopping, you name it, I am with them. My mom blames herself for the lack of crate training. I spent the first night in a kennel. It was okay. The second night she let me in bed. I fell asleep and she let me sleep all night long in bed. It has been like that ever since. She says I am such a good boy. My mom and dad taught me how to do my duties in the tall grass and sage. They would walk me out on a leash into the big back yard to show me where to go. Now that I am a “big man”, I can do it all by myself. They play ball toss with me to wear me out. I seem to have lots of energy, but they like it and I do too. My birthday is coming up soon and my mom has to schedule my neuter job. Not sure what that all entails, but I think it will be fine. They mention a cone, I think I might get ice cream!

MEET MAVRICK:
Mavrick is a sweet, six-year-old dog with a sassy side. His eyes are full of emotion, and he has a way of locking eyes with you to truly understand the kind of person you are. He knows a few charming commands and will happily perform them for a tasty treat. Mav enjoys his walks but must be on a leash for them, though he’s always eager for a stroll! A fenced-in backyard is essential for his happiness and safety. He loves playing ball and sitting by the window, keeping an eye on the world outside.
Mav can be a bit barky, but he responds well to a vibrating collar for correction. He’d do best in a home with children old enough to understand boundaries and safety, as he can get nippy around food (he’s not aggressive—just a bit nippy). Mavrick is housetrained, though he’s not fond of going outside in the cold, so he might need a little extra patience. He’s fine with other dogs after a gentle introduction but hasn’t been around cats. Mavrick tends to bond more with women.

MEET VIOLET:

Meet Violet, the ultimate “Peter Pan Pup” and a perfect mix of Lab and Border Collie! At two years old, she’s got all the playful energy of a puppy, and she’ll keep you on your toes with her boundless enthusiasm. While she’s a ton of fun, she’s still working on her recall, so she’ll need to be on a leash during outdoor adventures. At about two months old, Violet jumped out of a truck window. She’s since had multiple surgeries on her front leg, which has a few pins and curves slightly. However, this hasn’t slowed her down at all. Her excitement can sometimes be a bit much for young children or older dogs, but that’s just her way of saying, “Let’s play!”
Violet loves to chew, so having plenty of chew toys around is key to keeping her happy. She’s fully housetrained and has a heart full of love to give. Though she hasn’t had much interaction with cats, she’s an affectionate, happy dog who thrives on attention and playtime.
Violet is looking for an active family who enjoys walks and has a fenced-in yard where she can run and play safely. Grizz is one well-traveled cat. We’re so pleased to share with you Grizz’s adoption story, written by her owner John.

I was extremely fortunate to find Miss Grizz in Red Lodge.To find her while I was on a 55 day road trip was a stroke of luck for me. Grizz was 1.8 pounds when I picked her up on August 21st. We had 3 more weeks on the road before arriving back in Ohio and she was a traveling trooper from the beginning. Once we got home, she settled in quickly. It did not take her long to get me properly trained. She has full run of the house, and she is always at my side every morning - she’s just adorable! She’s a typical tortie, full of the devil, ornery, and headstrong. Just what I wanted!!! As she grew, and boy has she grown, her personality and intelligence has blossomed. My family and friends are astounded at her evolution into an irreplaceable member of the family. Grizz has grown to almost 8 pounds at 6 months. She has a voracious appetite, and she is a seasoned traveler who has been to 13 states and covered right about 5,000 miles since late August. She is one of a kind. I cannot thank Becci and Jody enough to entrust Grizz to me!

MEET TURBO:
This guy can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up to his people, he’s the first to venture out and get into all sorts of mischief. He’s quick to run and leap over obstacles but also the first to curl up in your lap and purr. Turbo gets along well with other cats and enjoys their company.
He’s always on the lookout for his human and is litter box trained. He loves finding a cozy hiding spot to sleep, like under the bed, and while he’s not very interested in canned food, he does enjoy treats. Since BHA doesn't have a brick-and-mortar shelter, we rely on a network of fosters to care for pets until they are adopted. BHA provides everything you need as well as a modest daily stipend. Do you have an outdoor cat that needs to be spayed or neutered? BHA offers free spay/neuter services for outdoor cats, and we have several slots available for surgeries on Wednesday, 2/19.
