When you adopt locally, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a foster-to-adopt trial period to ensure the perfect fit before finalizing the adoption. Animals are also available for transport to approved applicants in the northeastern US and Canada. Out-of-state adopters outside of our transport route are welcome to travel to us or arrange and provide for private transportation. 🗺️ 🚐 Virtual or in-person meet-and-greets are scheduled once an adoption application has been submitted. Wow. Just four days ago, we shared our urgent need for pet food. Our staff was growing worried as our supply rapidly dwindled. Feeding 250+ animals daily is no small task, and our budget was stretched thin. Since then, we have been absolutely blown away in the best way possible. 🤯 Every single day, community members and groups have stopped by with donations, and multiple delivery trucks have unloaded boxes upon boxes of food. 📦 Our shelves have never been this full! What a puptacular first adoption event of 2025!!! Huge thanks to Woodys Pet Supplies, our incredible volunteers, and everyone who came out to meet our adoptable dogs! 👋🏼 It was a great afternoon with lots of interest in fostering and adopting—hopefully, we’ll have some happy tails news to share soon. Events like this help bring us closer to finding forever homes for our rescue pets, and we’re so grateful for the support of our community to make them such a howling success. Another day, another injured stray. 😩 Cracker Jack wandered onto someone’s property this past weekend. When he arrived to us for help, it appeared like he was suffering from severe matting related to a bad ear infection. As our manager bathed him, it quickly became clear his condition was far worse. Underneath the dirty, tangled fur, Michael noticed multiple puncture marks. He was then shocked to discover half of his ear completely missing! Based on his wounds, it is believed that poor Cracker Jack was attacked by a coyote or another dog. 💔 Despite this trauma and his pain, he was very friendly, allowing Michael to get him cleaned up and treated. An appointment was made for him immediately. The incredible team at @topgun_vet shaved him down, revealing even more wounds and infections. He required stitches on his ripped ear, a drain tube, medications, and intensive wound care. After a few days at the vet, Cracker Jack is now back with us resting, fighting off the infections, and beginning to heal. ❤️‍🩹 Donations toward his medical care and gifts from his wish list will help him on his road to recovery. Thank you for the love and support shown for sweet Halo. 😇 🐾 We are thankful to be receiving updates, pictures, and videos from her vet. She is walking, eating, and drinking! Poor girl desperately needs to gain weight and strength. She is gentle + cuddly and has a long road ahead of her. Birdie + her 7 week old babies are in need of foster homes! 🏡 Birdie is a sweet hound mix momma who is crate-trained, cat-friendly, kid-friendly, and dog-friendly. She has been a nurturing mom, but is now ready for a new space to get some uninterrupted rest! The puppies need to be fostered in pairs+ to continue growing and learning critical socialization. 🐶 Fosters must be 18+ and live within driving distance of Columbia, SC. All food, medical care, and supplies are provided during the foster period. Jupiter’s surgery was a success! 💕 Her jaw has been stabilized with wires and plates, and she’s officially on the road to recovery. Thank you to Dr. T’s team at @topgun_vet for your care and treatment of this precious girl. We were thrilled to see her lapping up some wet food this evening! 🍽️ We’re currently gathering invoices and documentation for a lawsuit but cannot comment further on the circumstances at this time. We have more wonderful news to share—Seacrest, the hound with the missing lower jawbone, has been recovering beautifully from his surgery. Jupiter is a sweet girl who was attacked by a neighbor’s dog through a gap in a closed gate. Her jaw was broken as she tried to pull herself back in between the gate and post. Because of the situation and cost, her owner surrendered her to the emergency vet where they recommended euthanasia unless a rescue could intervene. We agreed to take over responsibility for her care and give her a second chance at life. 🩷 She has been transferred to TopGun Veterinary Services, where she will undergo surgery to repair her broken jaw and injuries. We know we’ve been asking for a lot lately, and we understand not everyone can give every time. Unfortunately rescue never sleeps and the needs never stop. 😫 We now have 7 dogs in our care who have suffered from injuries like broken bones and require(d) expensive surgeries.
