Parrots First Parrots First is a non profit 501C3 serving the Southern California area.

Parrots First's mission is to educate the public on the unique needs of parrots, take in found and unwanted parrots and offer them to qualified homes through adoption. If you consider that we cannot save them all, and what difference does one makes, you ought to know the joy of the one who is saved. - Jim Willis

Hi my name is Rex. For awhile i was known as that "stupid bird" by the woman that was supposed to be caring for me. She said I was messy and she put me outside in her porch. I was ok seeing all the things that went on outside until one night. A raccoon came to my cage and tried to grab me. He could not get me out but made a pretty big hole in my head. I am not sure how long I stayed on the porch with the bloody hole but one day a kind woman came and saw me. She asked the woman in the house if help was needed to g*y me to a vet for care. The woman said to take me as she had no use for the messy birtd.
Well, that woman took me to Parrots First and my life changed. I was taken to the doctor for care and then to a place they said was a foster home. That is where I am now and it is pretty great.....fresh food, clean cage...toys and love for me. The doctor said all my tests are good and my wound is healing. I am an older bird and have arthritis in my legs and feet but that does not stop me from running around.
I am told all I need now is to be adopted.
INTERESTED??

Edit: Parrots First is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We accept adoption applications from families living in Greater Los Angeles.

WE have learned things about coco since she arrived in to her foster home. She is a female. We found out when she laid eggs .She does not want to be held but does not bite if picked up. Coco needs a home or aviary where she can fly. We do not clip her wings and she loves to fly.
If you think you could provide a place for Coco please email [email protected]

Sammi had a rough time after her favorite person died. She mad a hole in her chest and stopped talking. She is now bouncing back to her old self. We are so happy. They grieve so deeply.

Parrots First

All parrots from the smallest parakeet to the largest macaw are wild animals and belong in the wild.

It is next to impossible to give them the life they deserve in our homes.

We must, however, face reality. The reality is that there are thousands of parrots that have been bred in captivity and can not be released to live on their own. We must focus on giving these birds the best possible life.

Parrots First hopes to accomplish this by rescuing and if needed rehabbing the birds that come in to care and rehoming them to people that have been educated and are fully dedicated to giving them the best life they can.
