Your continued support helps us care for cats like Dutchez, Diamond, and Dior. Their humans, Q and L, have been struggling with homelessness; in spite of their personal challenges, these two women have wanted only the best for their pet cats. Sadly, they have not been able to locate a shelter across New Jersey or New York City that allowed them to stay united with their cats, while they got back on their feet. To complicate matters, Dutchez has Cerebellar hypoplasia, also known as CH. It's a neurological disorder that affects a cat's balance and fine motor skills, and can cause tremors and impair their ability to walk, so naturally her parents feel especially protective of her. Q and L thought they achieved a moment of relief with an outside foster program, but a tragedy occurred and their fourth cat Draco passed away while not in their care.
They retrieved their surviving pets and came to People For Animals in tears, hoping we could do something -- anything -- for their precious companions. We leapt to their aid immediately, and placed them all in our Whole Families Program. Now everyone in this family, human and animal alike, is getting the care they need to be healthy and happy! Dutchez, Diamond, and Dior are being cared for at a trusted, vetted PFA Foster Home. All three have been receiving preventative vet care at our clinic, and Dior has also been neutered. Dutchez does not let CH hold her back, and rests comfortably with PFA. This trio of siblings is also getting to play and socialize with other cats in our foster care! Meanwhile, our on-staff, licensed clinical social worker is assisting Q and L, providing them with ongoing social services support and helping them secure permanent housing. They are hoping to have good news on that front imminently! In the meantime, they're still getting lots of updates on their furbabies.
Dutchez and her siblings are just three of the dozen pets enrolled in PFA's Whole Families Program and staying in our foster care. We are providing all of these special dogs and cats with food, warmth, quality vet care, and lots of love -- until they can be happily reunited with their families and celebrate the next chapter of their lives! At PFA, we embrace the idea that the health of humans, animals, and the environment are all connected. We choose kindness to heal our most vulnerable neighbors and make them whole again. During this season of giving, we hope you will also choose kindness and support the ongoing expenses of our efforts, with a donation: https://bit.ly/pfatuesday
