Who wants to be V***n's valentine? This adorable five-year-old Mini Schnauzer mix loves people, car rides, cats, dogs who respect her space, and calm children who will let her nap near them. She's also getting the hang of leash walking and house training.

Attention lab lovers! Sherlock is a stunning young lab mix whose best life is in front of him after leaving a southern shelter.

This medium-sized boy enjoys walks, snuggles and snacks. He's house trained and crate trained and will let you know when that pesky mailman shows up. Sherlock's world was very small before coming to Peppertree so lots of things are new to him. We think an adult-only home would be best because he finds children to be a little scary. And while he enjoys other dogs, he doesn't like to share toys with them so he would love to be the king of his castle.

Walter is just popping in here to say hi. This silly little senior is looking for love. Walter is never stingy with kisses, and he's a comedian too. He does the cutest dinnertime happy dance that always makes his foster mom laugh.

Walter enjoys walks, other dogs and his people. And while he has some vision impairment, it doesn't hold him back at all. He's a pro at navigating his surroundings and is always up for adventures.

Happy Saturday from Rusty! He's new to Peppertree and his foster mom has only amazing things to say about him. Rusty is very loving and gentle and enjoys calm walks and cuddles. He's a little shy when he first meets you, but quickly warms up.

Rusty has lived harmoniously with children and a dog before. He's housebroken and crate trained too. He'll make a great companion for a family or an individual looking for a calm, affectionate pup. We can't wait to see where this handsome devil ends up. He deserves the best.

We're honored to once again receive a generous grant from the highly regarded Doris Day Animal Foundation (DDAF). Peppertree is deeply grateful for this support which will help pay veterinary expenses for the very deserving dogs in our program.

Founded by Doris Day as a grant-giving charity, DDAF funds nonprofits like Peppertree that directly care for and protect animals. DDAF is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to help animals and the people who love them.

Good morning from Onyx! This young, laid-back Velcro pup enjoys playtime, snuggling, car rides and couches. He's housetrained, has happily lived with children and is friendly with other dogs.

Onyx is a calm, medium-sized boy who adores his people but isn't a social butterfly. He's initially a bit timid with new people and situations and appreciates slow introductions in quiet settings.

Introducing Chris, aka Cookie Crisp, a bright and cheerful girl who will steal your heart! Chris has a stunning spotted coat (we suspect that she is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix) and her good looks and outgoing personality are the talk of her foster mom's neighborhood.

Ready for some fun? Meet Jorge! He's a super happy, young pocket pittie who's guaranteed to bring excitement to your life. Jorge loves people, other dogs, playing fetch, car rides and more.

His DNA results say that he's a pit bull/chihuahua/rat terrier mix. We can tell you that he's all pittie in personality and is a fun-sized, life-of-the-party dog. He will make a great addition to an active family. Contact us if you'd like to meet him.

Pirate is getting his mojo back after a scary medical emergency. He had a very serious gastrointestinal issue arise, prompting his rock star foster parents to whisk him off to the emergency vet where he received diagnostic tests, medication and fluids. Naturally, all of this happened on Christmas Day.

We're grateful to his foster mom and dad and the veterinary staff for their prompt actions that quickly turned things around. We're also grateful to our donors who make it possible for Peppertree to pay for veterinary care in these situations.

And we're delighted, but not at all surprised, that our feisty friend bounced back. After all, you can't keep a good man down (particularly one named Pirate!).

Say hello to Boomer. This world-class snuggler enjoys walks, playing with toys, and the company of kids. Boomer also likes other dogs, particularly the calm, middle-aged to older variety who understand social cues. And he's a smart pup who is quickly learning commands and how to be a great family dog.

Two-year-old Ellie's life had a very inauspicious start in Texas where the little stray gave birth to a litter of puppies in an overcrowded shelter. After her adorable puppies were adopted, Ellie was slated for euthanasia. A trusted associate handpicked her for us based on her sweet temperament. Peppertree said yes, of course, because we always hate to see new moms left behind in an at-risk situation.

The timid little hound mix arrived at her Peppertree foster home while undergoing treatment for heartworm. She wasn't housebroken and was unfamiliar with the simple pleasures in life like walks, car rides and couches. Ellie's initial shyness melted away once she realized she was safe and loved in her foster home. She mastered housebreaking and her playful side started to shine through, adding even more joy to her endearing personality.

Soon enough a loving couple made Ellie an offer she couldn't refuse: a quiet home with a fabulous meal plan, abundant squeak toys, and a huge deck from which she could survey her backyard kingdom. Now Ellie spends her days sunning herself on the deck, watching squirrels and deer, hiding bones in the couch, and doing zoomies around the living room like a NASCAR driver. What a long way she's come from her rough start in Texas!

None of this could have happened for Ellie without resources to pay for her veterinary care. Our average veterinary expense per dog far exceeds our $300 adoption fee. Donations from our Peppertree community allow us to provide this care while continuing to charge an affordable adoption fee.

The 15th Annual Furry Fun Run is in the books! We had such a great year with 133 participants, along with volunteers and supporters on site.
