If you'd like to make a shelter dog's day, here is a great opportunity to help!

We are glad the weather does not look like this for our first Pack Hike!

This Sunday, August 18th, we will be meeting at Cache Humane Society at 9am to get ready to head up to Stoke’s Nature Trail. The goal of our Pack Hike is to get all of the shelter dogs some enrichment and exercise!

You do not need to be a current volunteer. All we ask is that you are 18 years or older and come by at the above time! Please do not bring your own dogs as we want to focus on our shelter pups.

We wanted to give another update on how we find dog p**p in the snow! In the snow we double walk your yard kicking through the snow to find as much waste as possible. We step in it so you don't have to! With trying to find the waste we are preventing a large spring cleaning but rest assured we have your dog p**p problem taken care of. As the snow melts we will collect any waste that has been missed!

Why pick up dog p**p in the winter?

Dog p**p contains a lot of bacteria such as E. Coli, f***l coliform, salmonella, and many others. This bacteria is unsanitary for you and your pets. The bacteria doesn't die in the cold weather. When your dogs go outside to run around they are stepping in the p**p that you may not be able to see; then tracking this bacteria through your house.

Here is some p**p math! Most dogs p**p anywhere from 2-3 times per day. If your yard doesn't get cleaned all winter long (3 months) for one dog that is 168 piles in your yard. With 2 dogs that doubles to 336 piles and so on.

Once the snow melts, so does the dog p**p. Some of the bacteria will wash away into the watershed causing harm to our environment.

Cleaning up waste in the winter may be unpleasant but is very important!

The 4H kids are hosting a Service Project for Des and her service dog Snoopy. Snoopy isn't too keen on using his super awesome Service harness so the kids are fundraising to buy Service dog collars and leashes and a few other things.

Come run your dog in two different agility courses. Minimum donation is $10. It'll be a fun night, all levels of ability are welcome. If you have never done it before, let a 4H handler help you wit your dog. They'll teach you what to do!
