🐾VOLUNTEERS NEEDED🐾
Our outreach group needs help. We are looking to add a couple girls to our team! We prefer women because the dogs tend to be less accepting of men. We are looking for women who can come a minimum of 2 sundays a month. We go out every Sunday but we understand that’s a lot for new volunteers. WE ARE DOWN TO 3 VOLUNTEERS LEFT!!! and with visiting over 130 dogs every week, we need help.
Our days are long. We start at 9:30 AM and don’t finish until usually 7-9 PM. This volunteer work is hard mentally, physically and emotionally. We have to bite our tongues and be gentle with what we say to owners because one wrong word and they can kick us off the property and the dog doesn’t get help anymore. We stuff over 130 dog houses with straw. We feed them all. We untangle chains and tie outs. Replace collars. Fill water buckets. Anything we can do to make the dogs lives better until we can get them surrendured, we do. You 100% will have dog p**p on you. You will step in it all day. Your clothes will get destroyed and you’ll be covered in bruises from excited dogs that get little to no attention other than our sunday visits. Dogs are unbelievably hungry and unbelievably thirsty. They will look into your eyes with sadness and then you just have to leave them. What makes this terribly sad volunteer work worth it? The freedom rides. There is no feeling that compares to freeing a dog from their chain when their owner finally agrees to surrender. You get to watch them go from having nothing to being adopted into the best home and having everything they always deserved. The feeling is addicting and soon enough you’ll become a crazy dog girl like us.
