PAFP didnāt participate in āGive for Good Louisvilleā this year since weāre in Miami (this season).
āGive Miami Dayā caught my eye on Facebook, and since it falls on my birthday, 11-21, I signed ā¬ļø.
-Everythingās expensive everywhere, which affects all businesses everywhere (nonprofits too!).
The rescue grossed $12,000-something in 2023, and spent around that amount in the same period of time; thereās $300 in the rescue checking account atm.
-If youāre in a position to give, even $5, please watch for donation links the week of .
As with Give for Good Louisville, Give Miami Day is run by The Community Foundation, and there ARE matching gifts. ā¦ 2 min fun read on how some orgs benefit for GMDā¦ š«ā¦
When you donate on Give Miami Day, the nonprofits you choose to support receive flexible dollars, meaning they can use the money in whatever way will have the most impact on their mission.

CARAMEL is a sweet, kind, gentle, fully-vetted dog that spent many months in our local (Miami) shelter after having been picked up as a stray with chemical burns on her back š¢.
-She was finally fostered out, then adopted.
Her adopter reached out to the foster over the weekend saying they plan to return her to the shelter, basically because sheās ātoo scaredā of the husband.
-This is a kind, gentle dog that needs someone patient enough to let her learn to fully trust a human (man) again. Thereās not an aggressive bone in her body (see her videos)- she needs empathy, consistency and love.
Weāre assisting her initial foster in networking her, and hoping the āadopterā gives us time to try to place her in a new home prior to returning her to Miami Dade A.S. ā¦

About Me:
The idea of creating The Paw and Feather Plan came to me circa 2013. Then I was working at Miami Dade Animal Services as an Adoption and Foster Care Counselor. During my tenure at MDAS it wasnāt uncommon to see pets surrendered by loved ones of their deceased owners.
So I thought, people need to include pets in their wills. And they need to have someone safe, trustworthy and reliable to take over pet care at a momentās notice.
As a pet foster parent with more than a decade of experience and an active pet sitter, Iām confident in my ability to provide outstanding care for othersā pets.
Iām adept at placing pets in permanent, loving, vetted homes too.
I feel called to do this work.
Lastly, having feather as part of The Paw and Feather Plan is necessary since: Iām a bird lover and bird owner. I know how special and smart birds are as pets. And since large birds typically outlive their owners, this service is even more crucial for bird owners.
Aside from offering The Cat Plan, Dog Plan and Bird Plan (plans for pets willed to The Paw and Feather Plan), I assist in pet re-homing for those experiencing extreme life events.
Of course we counsel and encourage pet owners to KEEP their pets and CONNECT THEM WITH THE RESOURCES TO DO SO however, sometimes people are decided on getting rid of their pets and thereās nothing anyone can say or do to change their minds.
And sometimes the pets truly are better off being placed in a new, loving home... depending on a wide array of circumstances and living conditions. Some people are not mentally, emotionally, financially and/or physically capable of providing a good home for a pet. In these cases, we help re-home peoplesā pets. Itās bittersweet. Itās sad. But itās also a āsilver liningā during a very difficult time in a person and his or her petās life.
Lastly, I make an effort to stay in touch with my adopters and they appreciate it. Oftentimes they need some encouragement or advice along the way- thatās normal. Taking in a new pet is huge transition and responsibility.
Want to help out? You can! Please share this service far and wide. It could help someone or some pet you know. Eventually Iāll be hiring pet-loving, genuine individuals too.
