Chihuahuas are one of the most over-bred dogs in Az and unfortunately many end up in need of rescue... hence the name, Chi(huahua) Town!

We are a primarily small-breed rescue that takes in unwanted dogs (and some cats), and helps them find to new homes. We are a dog Rescue located in Phoenix, Arizona. Chi Town" is short for "Chihuahua Town," which is our nick-name. Chi Town Rescue saves small dogs, some who require a little extra TLC. Many of these dogs are Chihuahuas or Chi mixes, hence our name! These dogs may not be doing well f

or a variety of reasons- fear, fear aggression, anxiety, or a medical needs to name a few. Dogs that have no other outlet make up most of our residents. After our dogs are medically cleared and/or their behaviors have improved and we’ve learned how to manage the behaviors, we make them available for adoption. Our special boy, Wiley, is still looking for a forever home! Wiley is currently in foster and does well with the resident dogs and humans. He is a sweet and sensitive soul who will take a bit to warm up to a new environment. We promise you though, that Wiley is worth a little extra effort!

Bubba has been on a diet lately, so he can get to a healthier weight for another leg surgery in the near future. He has lost seven whole pounds already and demanded that we post a picture so everyone could admire his slim and trim waist. We can't believe puppy Andy is still looking for a home! Andy is an approximately three-month-old Chihuahua mix puppy. He is classic puppy and full of energy. Smiley wasn't with us too long before he was ADOPTED! Smiley was originally found as a stray by a good samaritan, and then taken in by Chi Town to help him find a new home. We are happy he hit the adoption lotto so fast; now THAT is something to smile about. :-)

Kermit is friendly, fun, adorable, and affectionate... so why is he still here?! Kermit would love to be your forever muppet. We are sure if you come meet him, you will fall in love. Great news for Stormy! His leg is healing well in the cast, so our vet does not anticipate that he will need ortho surgery after all! Stormy is a loveable little Poodle mix, approximately two-years-old, and 11 pounds. He is friendly with people and other dogs. We are open to him going to a foster to adopt home, with adoption being made official after his leg fully heals. His foster family would be responsible for taking him to his vet appointments (around 43rd Ave/Northern), and all vet-related costs for his leg would be covered by Chi Town Rescue. Belly rub, please? Five-year-old Brody is a shy and sweet little lap dog, who loves a good belly rub (or two, or three!). He came to the shelter as an owner surrender and has understandably not loved shelter life overall. He is definitely ready to go into a home setting, and we are open to a foster or adoptive home for him, through Chi Town Rescue. Brody does best with other calm dogs who won't get all up in his business. He loves his people friends and is happy to follow you everywhere and keep you company. Brody walks well on leash and does the cutest zig-zag when on a walk. He would do best in an adult-only home. Interested in learning more about Brody for foster or adoption? We did a thing and could use your help.... We rescued 11 dogs that were in danger of being euthanized from a hoarding situation in Concho, AZ. It was evident from the moment we got them that they were not healthy. They all had diarrhea and tested positive for Giardia. Then we noticed one of the females we've named Liana kept trying to urinate every minute. We took her to the vet and she has an ENORMOUS bladder stone and is undergoing surgery TODAY. In addition to Liana's surgery this group will need to be retested for Giardia ($75 per dog), there is standard vetting to do once they're healthy (spay/neuter, vaccines, microchips, flea/tick preventative, etc.) We're asking that you please donate to our GoFundMe goal. Lookie who it is- Kahlua! He's recently started to turn that little frown upside down. Kahlua is one of five dogs who were left in a kennel in a parking lot late one night. The dogs have made progress with their people socialization to varying degrees. Kahlua has finally started to blossom, after spending a little time in foster. He will now approach those he knows for attention and quickly zoom in for some pets. He is brave enough to check out the yard now, and is starting to socialize (and even play some!) with the other dogs. Kahlua is just 10 months old, and has overcome a lot in his short life. We think he is now officially ready to go to a very patient forever home, or a foster to adopt home. DM us or email [email protected] for more info!

Kermit is still adoptable! He has a fun and friendly energy, and is the perfect small-medium size, at approximately 20 pounds. Kermit loves to do zoomies and play tug-of-rope with his pal, Mochi. Meet Andy! Andy is an approximately three-month-old Chihuahua mix puppy. He came to rescue when his former family became homeless and was no longer able to care for him. Despite his sad circumstances, Andy is a happy little guy. He wiggles and wags his way through life and is happy to meet new friends along the way, be they two or four-legged. Andy is affectionate with people and social with other dogs. He enjoys toy-time, walk-time, cuddle time, and basically any time he can spend with YOU! Andy is a puppy so he has a high energy level. He's looking for a family that can keep up with him, and is willing to teach him all the tricks of being a good boy- like potty/house training, and maybe even some basic commands. Adorable Gidget is still looking for a foster to adopt home! She is currently being treated for Tick Fever and requires a daily pill. We are open to her going to a home to finish her treatment, then we will recheck her labs and officially adopt her out, if medically cleared. Tick Fever is not contagious and vet bills will be the financial responsibility of Chi Town. Gidget is just five-pounds but has a big personality. She loves to socialize with other dogs, then snuggle up in a lap or next to you on the couch. Gidget is the perfect little dog who will fit into quite a few lifestyles- maybe even yours? Foster PUPdates! Are you interested in joining the Chi Town Foster team? We always have longtimers or fearful little dogs in need of a home environment, to help them become more adoptable and ultimately find forever. DM us or email [email protected] if interested in learning more. :-)

- Senior sweetie, Cheyenne, is hanging out in foster while she awaits hernia surgery. She is a perfect little houseguest and full of personality (when she's not snoozing, lol). After she recovers from surgery, she will be officially adoptable.
- Kitten Trey is in foster with one of our volunteers, while he recoups from surgery. He will be adoptable once all healed up!
- Hennessey is one of the five-pack that was found abandoned in a kennel in a parking lot late at night. He is very fearful and unsocialized with people. In his foster home, he's been learning positive interactions with people and has become his foster mom's little shadow. And clearly, he's comfy with the (BIG!) dog in the house. :-)

We are so happy to announce longtimer, Alyster's ADOPTION! We knew he was a dog that would need some time and patience to come around in a home setting. Fortunately, a great family was willing to give him that chance and after a few weeks in foster to adopt, they made it official! Does anyone recognize Alyster's new fur-brother on the right? Yep, that's Junior, a Chi Town alumni! The two are getting along great and even playing. And we have to applaud Junior's weight loss (he came to us as a BIG boy!); he's down to 21 pounds!

Need some more smiles in your life? (Of course you do!) We've got you covered- come meet SMILEY! Smiley is an approximately three-and-a-half-year-old, 12-pound Chihuahua mix, adoptable through Chi Town Rescue. Smiley was originally found under a car by a good samaritan. They were unable to locate his owners, but were kind enough to keep him safe and get him vetted. Smiley came to Chi Town Rescue so we could help him find his forever family. He is a bit shy at first, but warms up relatively quickly if you go slow and get down on his level. He will soon be showing you his adorable little teeth in a grin called a "submissive smile" that some dogs have. It's Smiley's way of telling you he wants to be friends! Smiley is happy to sit in your lap and soak up love. He has done well with the other dogs at rescue and did well with the three dogs in the home that found him. Per his finders, Smiley also enjoys squeaky toys, will fetch, is house/doggy door trained, and enjoys his crate safe space. We would love to find this little cutie a new home asap, so he can enjoy the rest of his life with his forever people. Could you be those people? Kermit and Mochi are Chi Town Rescue pals, both looking for their forever homes. Kermit (left) is an approximately four-year-old Lab(?) mix, and Mochi is a one-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/Pug mix. They both weigh around 20 pounds. Both dogs love to play and love attention and pets. Mochi is a wild and crazy gal who loves just as hard as she plays; she would do amazing with an active family who loves to go on adventures! Diego Update! Our latest medical rescue, Diego, was taken into Chi Town after being hit by a car. Diego has pelvic fractures, as well as an L7 vertebrae fracture. He is showing some improvement and is now eating well overall and taking his meds. He walks a bit, but is still unable to have a bowel movement on his own without stool softeners. We are hoping for continued improvement and a good quality of life/outcome for Diego. ❤️
