This past spring, I told you the story about a fellow cat caregiver who was diagnosed with stage 3 re**al cancer. She spent the entire past six months undergoing brutal radiation and chemotherapy treatments only to find out her tumor had only shrunk sixty percent, leading her to now needing further treatment.
When I met Sue two years ago, she told me she worked part-time strictly to pay for the care of the 50+ cats she cares for at home and in various cat colonies… and now with her uncertain future, she will not be going back to work anytime soon.
Today, Sue underwent surgery to have her tumor and appendix removed. There is a bit more, but out of respect for Sue, this is enough to share. She will also now need more chemotherapy. She has many more months of therapy and care… all in the hopes this will give her more time.
On and off during the summer and fall, she would help feed her feral colonies when she could. With the help of friends, she got their shelters redone and set up for winter. And then just a few weeks ago, she found two little three-week-old kittens at one of her colonies. She took them home and saved them from an uncertain fate.
But with her surgery today and an unknown future, I took the two kittens into my care until she can take them back. Hoagie and Piglet are now six weeks old and doing well. Even in her lowest, Sue has been caring for her colonies when she can.
So now, once again, she is worried about money moving forward for cat food and care as she won’t be able to go back to work anytime soon. With all she is going through, I want to help ease that worry a bit and I am hoping you can help.
No donation is too small. I will be giving 100% of the money donated directly to Sue. She didn’t want me to do the first fundraiser and she has no idea I am doing another. But when she gets home from the hospital, I want to be able to ease her mind about money for cat care.
Thank you for reading. In this big old world, one of the best things we can do is care for each other.
Kindness is so rewarding. God bless.
