🐾CRATE TRAINING IS NOT BEING UNKIND TO YOUR PUP! 🐾

Crate training is an effective method to prevent destructive behavior and ease separation anxiety in your puppy, ultimately saving your home from potential damage. By providing a safe and secure space, crates can help manage your puppy's behavior when you're not around. This training process teaches them to view the crate as their personal den, a comforting environment where they can relax and feel secure. As a result, your puppy is less likely to engage in destructive activities, such as chewing furniture or shoes, when left alone.

Additionally, crate training aids in establishing a routine, which is crucial for puppies as it provides structure and predictability. This consistency can reduce anxiety levels, making it easier for your puppy to cope when you leave the house. Over time, your puppy will learn that being in the crate is a normal part of their day and won’t associate it with negative feelings of abandonment.

🐾 Meet Maverick, a 5-month-old Lab Collie mix and the newest member of his family in Staten Island! 🐶✨

This energetic pup has a lot of love to give but needs help refining his puppy behaviors:
🔹 Jumping: Maverick can’t contain his excitement and loves to jump up to say hello.
🔹 Nipping: When he gets wound up at night, he nips at clothes, making playtime a bit too lively.
🔹 Leash Trouble: Walks are an adventure—Maverick pulls and even bites the leash in his enthusiasm.
🔹 Shy Around New People: He sniffs and observes from a safe distance, sometimes hiding, but warms up with time.
🔹 Cat Curiosity: Maverick tries to play with the family cats, though his enthusiasm sometimes leads to chasing.

Oliver, an older and protective soul, has been showing signs of anxiety and reactivity, especially since Prince, his playful younger sibling, joined the household. 🐕💛 Their dynamic is loving, but some challenges have cropped up—like excessive barking, leash reactivity, and even a startling moment when Oliver felt cornered and bit out of fear. 😞

Prince is still figuring out the puppy stage—he’s curious, mischievous (especially with shoes! 👟), and learning to settle when left alone in his crate. Meanwhile, Oliver roams free but barks to alert Diana when she’s home, as if to say, “I’ve got this!”

Their owners are committed to giving these brothers the support they need, and we’re honored to step in and help. Meanwhile, 5-year-old Daisy, a sweet Jack Russell, is calm and friendly but sometimes gets caught in the crossfire of Lily’s antics. 🐶💖

During our session, we worked on:

✔️ Reinforcing calm behavior at the door

🐾 Meet Indy & Jeremy: The Dynamic Duo in Training! 🐾

Indy, a 12-month-old Coonhound/Black Lab mix, and Jeremy, a 14-year-old three-legged Beagle, are embarking on their training journey with Bark Busters Staten Island. These two have their own unique challenges but share one common goal—becoming their best selves! 🐶✨

Here’s what we’re working on:
🚶‍♂️ Indy—As a rescue, he’s still learning the ropes. He pulls on the leash and gets anxious around loud noises, sometimes wanting to dart home. Basic commands and confidence-building are top priorities for this sweet boy.
🐕 Jeremy—Despite losing a leg to cancer two months ago, he’s still got plenty of spirit! His “selective hearing” and reactivity toward other dogs need some fine-tuning.

Together, this pair is tackling their challenges, and we’re so excited to help them thrive. Indy and Jeremy are proof that it’s never too late—or too early—to make positive changes. Stay tuned for updates on their progress! ❤️🐾

Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, family, and (of course) delicious food! But amidst the festivities, it’s important to keep your furry friend safe. 🐕 Here are some tips to ensure a happy and healthy Thanksgiving for your pup:

🍗 No Turkey Bones or Fatty Scraps
Turkey bones can splinter and cause serious harm, while fatty foods can upset your dog's stomach—or worse, cause pancreatitis.

🍫 Keep Desserts Out of Paw’s Reach
Chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free treats), and raisins are toxic to dogs. Let them enjoy a dog-safe treat instead!

🍽️ Secure the Trash
Leftovers and discarded items can be irresistible to curious pups but may contain harmful or dangerous items like aluminum foil, bones, or food wrappers.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Provide a Quiet Space
Holiday gatherings can be overwhelming. Create a calm, cozy spot where your dog can relax if the hustle and bustle become too much.

Meet Leo, a spirited 2.5-year-old Miniature Poodle with a big personality and a lot of love to give. 💕 But lately, his family has been dealing with some challenging behaviors, including resource guarding, mounting, and barking at every little noise. 😅 This clever guy even figured out how to escape his crate! 🐶🔓

During our session, we focused on:

Milo, an 11-year-old Border Collie mix, and Munchkin, a 2.5-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix, may be opposites in personality, but they’re both ready to tackle their challenges with Bark Busters Staten Island! 🐶✨

Here’s what we’re working on:
💔 Milo—This timid sweetheart has spent most of his life in the shadow of a dominant older dog. Now, he’s adjusting to life with Munchkin, but food reactivity issues are causing tension. Milo has bitten when guarding food or treats, so building trust and confidence is a big focus.
⚡ Munchkin—This energetic stray-turned-rescue has his own quirks! From excessive barking at every sound or passerby to jumping and reactivity at the door, he’s keeping his family on their toes. Oh, and car rides? 🚗 Not his favorite—poor guy gets carsick every time.

🐾 Meet Armani: Sweet & Spirited! 🐾

Armani is a 5-month-old English Cream Retriever with a big personality and a LOT of learning ahead of him! 🐶✨ This headstrong pup has some growing up to do, but he’s got a sweet side that shines through.

His challenges include:
🍗 Resource guarding—growling and nipping over food, bones, and even blankets (he drew blood during an incident recently).
🚶‍♂️ Leash manners—pulling on walks and even grabbing the leash with his teeth.
🚽 Potty training—mostly using pads but still having some misses.
❤️ While friendly with people and dogs, Armani needs help learning boundaries and respect.

With Hesham and Heba’s commitment and our training plan, Armani is on his way to becoming a well-mannered, confident companion. Stay tuned as this rambunctious retriever transforms into a superstar! 🌟🐕

🌟 Client Spotlight: Callie 🌟

Meet Callie, a sweet 1.5-year-old Pitbull Terrier mix from Staten Island! Her family reached out to Bark Busters for guidance on crate training, leash manners, and socialization. 🐾

Callie had been waking up at 2-3 a.m., making it tough for her family to get a full night’s sleep. Potty training was going well, but they wanted to create a set schedule for her. With a personalized training plan, we’ve already started helping Callie and her family build routines that work for everyone. 💛

Her progress so far is amazing, and her family is thrilled to see her learning leash manners and responding to commands more consistently—all without using additional tools. 🎉

We can’t wait to see Callie continue to grow into her best self!

🐾 Meet Rosa! 🐾

This adorable 7-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is as sweet as can be, but her family needed a little help with her puppy antics. That’s where Bark Busters Staten Island came in!

Rosa has been struggling with potty training—pee pads were more of a toy than a solution—and separation anxiety has been leading to some scratched walls. She also gets so excited when visitors arrive that she jumps up and even pees from all the excitement!

During our session, we provided Paul with practical, effective tools to help Rosa:
✅ Understand where and when to toilet
✅ Feel calm and secure when left home alone
✅ Greet visitors without jumping or accidents

🐾 Daisy’s Training Journey Has Begun! 🐾

Meet Daisy, a spirited 1-year-old Pit Bull with a heart full of love and energy! 🐶💕 Since joining her family two months ago, Daisy’s been working hard to learn good manners and calm her high-energy behavior.

Her biggest challenges? Jumping up on people, mouthiness, and barking at guests. It can take her some time to settle down when visitors arrive, and she gets overly excited when walking on a leash—so much so that Kayla hasn’t been able to walk her at all. Daisy’s also been known to steal slippers and chew leashes to grab attention. 😅

But here’s the good news: Daisy is smart and eager to please! With Bark Busters Staten Island stepping in, she’s now learning how to manage her excitement, respect boundaries, and walk calmly on leash. It’s all about channeling that energy into positive behaviors—and she’s already making strides. 🌟

🐾 Meet the Pack: Lexie, Apollo, Gracie, Shadow, Junior, and Milo! 🐾
From 8-year-old Shorkie Lexie (the protective mom of the group) to the playful 5-year-olds, these pups have been part of Alyssa’s life since they were young. But with a big family comes big challenges—especially when it comes to socialization and behavior around new people and other dogs.

Top Goals for Training:

Help Lexie feel less possessive of her pack, so everyone can be relaxed and enjoy together.

Work on reactivity and reduce growling or ankle-nipping, especially with guests and on walks.

Make sure Alyssa’s pups feel confident and safe wherever they go—and prepare for future family life!
