2024 - July 8th [taken July 6th]
Three friends romping in the water last Saturday. It was 118ยฐ, and the river water actually felt delicious, delightful, and as you see Lylah-Lou was delirious because not only was there Water, but also there was a young 9mo, intact, pup (Miles) onboard and Lylah-Lou just luuuuuuuvs intact males๐๐๐๐ she's such a little flirt ๐

Last weekend was our biweekly irrigation, and though only about 2/3rds head (vegetation clean out of main canal 6/3-6/7), the pups who aren't allergic to water enjoyed themselves immensely ๐คธ๐ผ๐๐๐ปโค

I do love that kicking the ball for her, and turning on a sprinkler are all the entertainment she needs โคโคโค

Happy 3rd Birthday, Brodie, and Happy 7th Adoption Day Lylah-Lou ๐
My how time flies! Just yesterday, it seems, Brodie was 3 months old...now he's THREE Years Old!!! And Lylah-Lou is EIGHT!! I still recall when Tami asked me to come meet/evaluate Lylah-Lou up at Jenn Bulmer's Tails of Rescue, 7 years ago! We sat cross-legged on the floor, and as I was watching Tami interact with Lylah-Lou, and Lylah's behavior, she slunk across to me, climbed into my lap and fell asleepโค That weekend, or shortly thereafter, Tami and David won Lylah-Lou in a very active adoption war...Lylah-Lou had *numerous application holds on her (I want to say 6/7 applications to adopt her).
Lylah-Lou had a very hard, very sad start to her sweet life๐๐ญ she needed stability, and she craved to be loved๐ญโคโคโค
When Lylah-Lou was rescued from a now closed, deplorable foster care home, she and another pup were found in a windowless, pumphouse-type shed. According to the paperwork, Lylah-Lou was 6 months old. When she was rescued, she was completely matted and covered with feces, they had to shave her entire body nearly to her skin, and at 6 months old she weighed in at a DEPLORABLE 12.5 +/- pounds๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ She was being starved to death...and though she started her life being starved, she has no resource guarding of her food dish. She will try to steal Bodie's "bones", at home, but, not once have I ever seen her be aggressive about food at RiverDog. Pups are so resilient...when they are provided their basic necessities, stability, a routine, and Love, so much patience and Love, when they feel safe, they begin to blossom ๐ธ Lylah-Lou has been an excellent example of a 100% transformation.
She still has some phobias, but with Tami and David's kind and patient loving care, frequent visits to RiverDog's DayCamp, she has come so very far๐๐ป๐๐๐๐๐๐ปโฎ

It's a beautiful day for big puppies to play at RiverDog today๐ฅฐ
I placed The Littles inside for a bit as it was going to be crazy and I didn't want them to get *all runned over* ๐๐
Although, it's quite something to see the 3 pugs onboard today (TilliePug and The TT's Rocky & Trooper ๐คฃ๐คช) run in hot pursuit of The Bigs...their curly-q tails all stretched out straight behind them ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ It's just safer for them, as it was, Big Girl Anne got a stinger sprain (Aunti rubbed it outโฅ๏ธ). Thankfully, The Littles are worn outโ๐ผ๐

Halloween ๐ ๐ป ๐
Halloween was a super fun DayCamp day, with numerous DGs also onboard.๐
So many of you have asked how I stop the pups from alerting to and barking at our resident deer. It is because I don't want them to, quite simply, and they like to please Aunti.
Truthfully, there are a few pups that initially become very concerned if I'm outside the yards feeding the birds and deer may come up behind me. Yes, some get concerned and some will bark, but I shush them gently, I talk with them and over time of only 1-3 visits, they literally ignore them, just like this๐

Please welcome MaggieT! MaggieT is nearly 6 months old [dob 12/27/22], and just the sweetest l'il girl ๐๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ MaggieT is an American Bulldog, akc recognized either 2012 or 2015, depending on where you search.
Anyway, she is super sweet, and she is *currently* somewhat timid, although that shall change...bringing your "bully breed", whether a Pug, Frenchie, a Boxer, an American Saffordshire Terrier, an American Bulldog, or a Pitbull or any crosses requires early socialization, a firm/kind, owner/trainer and consistent rules and boundaries.
Bringing a pup like MaggieT to RiverDog (or other qualified trainer/boarder) for early socialization, pack play and house manners is crucial in the development of any bully breed...actually, the foregoing applies to every other breed as well, but bullies, especially!
MaggieT shall be in attendance every DayCamp day, so all pups and their folks shall have the opportunity to meet and help socialize this gorgeous baby Girlie-girl๐โค๐๐ผ

Maggie is amazing...she didn't start out at RiverDog blind/deaf. It has been a gradual thing, and Maggie knows every blade of grass, every bump, and every boundary๐ Each day, Maggie and I stroll about and I'll show her where the pool is for the day...somehow she remembers๐๐ผ๐
Maggie is such an Angel๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธwe are grateful we have had the privilege of loving her over the yearsโค

Last night after their supper, Timmy and Tillie enjoying the cooler temps (it was 84ยฐ, but w/no sun, cooler somehow). Perfect BBQ weather๐ That's apple wood burning down to charcoal...there's something about a BBQ'd Cheeseburger๐ โค๐
Timmy can be such a gentle, kind boyo. He's very gentle with *most* of The Littles, with some light reminders so he doesn't go into full-on BC modeโค๐ฅฐ It's a joy to watchโค
Mr Mac Himself cracks me up! He loves to play, but more of a one-on-one play๐
Little Tillie is having a wonderful visit...Sadly, she goes home today๐ฅฐ๐ but she'll be back really soon๐๐ผโค

Today is Maintenance Monday and so I must generally troop all over the dog yard and The OutBack gathering favorite logs and toys to save them from the Mowers...giggles, it is very, very helpful when Timmy is "in situ"!
Hahahaha, that's because when Timmy first arrives he spends the first 30/40 minutes rounding up all the balls, dog rope toys, logs and misc other toys.
BC Timmy is a Type-A, and it drives him over the edge not to have all his eggs, er toys snicker-snicker, in a row๐๐คtsz-tsz-tsz ๐คญ๐คญ๐คญ๐โบ
