🐾 Understanding Intussusception in Pets 🐾

Check out the ultrasound image below of a pet with a history of ingesting foreign objects and not eating for several days. The ultrasound revealed a suspected intussusception.

Intussusception occurs when part of the intestine telescopes into itself, often triggered by a foreign object, leading to decreased intestinal movement and a blockage. This condition can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. Surgical intervention is usually necessary.

Other signs to watch for include diarrhea, vomiting, and lethargy. It's crucial to seek veterinary care if your pet displays these symptoms. Fortunately, our clinic has skilled sonographers who can perform ultrasounds to diagnose this condition accurately.
