We're thrilled to introduce our February Pets of the Month: Ruxin, Taco, Waffles, and Cheese — the fabulous foursome also known as Ruxin and The Foodies! These quirky kitties are bursting with personality, mischief, and endless charm. Read on to learn more about these fun-loving felines! 😸💕

1. What are your pet’s names?
Ruxin, Taco, Waffles, and Cheese

2. How did you come up with their names? Do they have any specific significance?
Ruxin & Taco: Named after characters from The League—talk about a winning combo! 🎬✨
Waffles: She was called Waffles at the shelter, so we kept the name. 🧇❤️
Cheese: He’s orange and fits right in with our food-themed names! 🧀😋

3. How old are they?
Ruxin: (2014 – 2024) 💔 In loving memory 🌈
Taco & Waffles: 6 years old 😻
Cheese: A playful 9-month-old 😺

4. What breed are they?
A mix of Siamese and long-haired tuxedo beauties. 🐈‍⬛

5. What are your favorite things to do together?
They’re quite the crew! Cheese loves paddleboarding 🏄‍♂️, Taco is all about cuddle time 🤗, and Waffles keeps us entertained with her “conversations.” 😁💬

6. What is the naughtiest thing they’ve ever done?
They knocked over the Christmas tree—twice! 🎄🙀 Now that’s some festive mischief!

7. What is the funniest memory you have of them?
There’s never a dull moment with these guys—too many hilarious memories to count! 😂🎉

8. Do they have nicknames? What are they?
Ruxin: Bee Key, Mep Mep, Squeak-a-bee, Kitty Ruxpin, Elephant Toes, Buttface
Taco: Beans, Beanie We**ie, Tatcho, Taquito
Waffles: Weefs, Warfles, Weefalumps, Whiz KaWeefa

Double the squish, double the fun! 🐾💕 Meet River (left) and Peeps (right), the most delightful pug sisters who keep us all smiling! 😍 Whether they’re rocking their signature expressions or just soaking up all the love (and maybe a few extra treats), these two are always the stars of the show. ✨

Peeps’ adorable little tongue? Iconic.
River’s perfect pug pout? Unmatched. Together? The ultimate dynamic duo! 🐶🐶 We’re always so excited when they visit—who could resist those faces?!

Meet Hank, the bravest little patient with the biggest heart! 💜🐶 Last week, this sweet boy underwent a Radius & Ulna repair surgery with our talented orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Hammel. With plenty of TLC from Dr. Barber and our amazing staff, Hank has been soaking up all the snuggles during his recovery. 💕

Healing is always better with love, and Hank has been getting plenty of it! We’re so proud of his progress and can’t wait to see him back on all four paws soon. 🐾💪

🎉 As we step into 2025, we’re looking back at all the love, joy, and wagging tails that made 2024 so special. 🐾

From snuggling tiny kittens and playful puppies to caring for every unique fur-baby that walked through our doors, we are so grateful for the trust you placed in us to care for your beloved pets. These moments meant the world to us, and we couldn’t have done it without you, our amazing pet families. ❤️

🎉 Happy New Year from Edinburgh Pet Health Center! We’re kicking off 2025 with our January Pet of the Month: Moo, Dr. Nelson’s extra-large Tuxedo cat who’s always full of surprises. Read on to learn more about this udderly delightful kitty! 🐱❤️

1. What is your pet’s name?
Moo 🐮

2. How did you come up with the name? Does it have any specific significance?
He came with the name “Moo,” which is purrfect because he looks just like a Holstein cow! 🐄

3. How old is your pet?
He’s 9 years old but still acts like he’s 2! ✨

4. What breed is your pet?
Moo is a Domestic Shorthair Tuxedo, and he’s extremely large! 🏋️‍♂️

5. What is your favorite thing to do together?
He loves chasing kibble around tall obstacles we set up—he’s basically a parkour pro! 🏆

6. What is the naughtiest thing your pet has ever done?
Where do we start?
- Bread thief 🍞: Moo jumps on the fridge to sn**ch bread.
- Cheese bandit 🧀: He opens cabinets for cheesy treasures.
- Water glass burglar 💧: He’ll help himself if you’re not looking.
- Cereal bowl swiper 🥣: He’ll even pull one from your hands if he gets the chance!

7. What is the funniest memory involving your pet?
He carries around his toy piggy everywhere and does a “piggy dance” when he’s upset—talk about a “Moo-dy” kitty! 🐷💃

8. Does your pet have a nickname, and what is it?
He goes by Mooper, Mooprecht, and Moopie (depending on his mood). 🏷️

9. Anything else you’d like to share about your pet?
Moo joined Dr. Nelson’s family because he had urinary issues in his previous home. Since moving in, he’s had zero problems! Now, he’s living his best life—stress-free, happy, and wonderfully spoiled. 🏠✨

Just one of the pretty special things about EPHC is our team is very close with eachother, we’re all great friends, and that goes for our pets too. They all get along so well together and often have play dates during the lunch hour. Ghost, Url, Zelda and Gibbs readily head to lunch for some playtime and treats. The video was pretty funny and just wanted to share!

Happy surgery patients are such a joy to share! 5 month old Smudge came in today for her spay and she was so happy and HUNGRY after her surgery thanks to her Comfort Pack! 😻🐾

Snickers didn’t seem to be too upset with us after his neuter. Actually, quite the opposite. He spent the rest of the day playing peek-a-boo with us and trying to grab/ swat at us as we passed by. He was so much fun.

Happy-go-lucky “Fry” had his first kitten visit with us yesterday! He put smiles on all of our faces. ☺️

Pt. 2 Black Nails.

A nail trim can be an anxiety laden event for many owners and pets, so we’ve made a tutorial in hopes of helping you all with at home nail trims.

Does your dog have a favorite game? From hide 'n seek and tag, to toys that make pets work or think, there is lots of fun to be had! Sparrow loves her food dispensing Treat Maze (a Nina Ottonson puzzle toy).

Happy Monday! Everyone needs a pick-me-up on Monday right?! Meet Bailey. Bailey is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy with a heartwarming story. The video shows Bailey playing like a typical pup. She is missing her right front leg, but you can see it doesn't keep her down! Here is her story. Bailey was 6 months old and having some pain/limping issues with her front legs. Dr. Carpenter examined her and found the issue was in both of her elbows. X-rays were taken and it was found that she had a severe congenital condition in both her front legs. Bailey needed a complicated surgery on her right front leg (the other leg would need surgery eventually). A surgical specialist was called in to perform this complicated surgery. Unfortunately, the leg was too malformed and although the surgeon worked hard on the leg, he was not able to repair it. While Bailey was still under anesthesia, the difficult decision needed to be made to either amputate Bailey's leg or to make the difficult decision to say the final goodbye (due to the severity of the issues with BOTH front legs). As you can see by the video, Bailey's family decided to give her a chance of life with 3 legs. Bailey is doing great these days. Although she still has the issue with her other front leg, she is living life to the fullest.
