Service Dogs for Skin Picking, Hair Pulling & Related Disorders

This is the start of a 5 year plan to learn how to effectively train and place psychiatric service dogs with individuals living with body-focused repetitive behaviors, or BFRBs, which include skin picking (dermatillomania/excoriation disorder), hair pulling (trichotillomania), nail biting, and others. I have just completed working with my first foster dog (adopted!) to get practice in the realm of canine behavior and training. I will continue to work with dogs, gain experience, train my own service dog, and then begin training dogs for others with BFRBs. The ultimate goal is to scale this project by certifying other trainers to specialize in BFRB service dog training. I'm seeking funding to help offset the following costs of this project:

$300 - annual website hosting cost (WordPress) $300 - annual BFRB Stories podcast fees (to help promote project and provide additional resource for BFRB community) $175 - initial podcasting equipment investment, including audio equipment for phone guests $100 - establish LLC for-profit business (in New Hampshire) for this project to raise and/or evaluate shelter dogs; then, individually train and place them in accordance with ADA guidelines $220 - logo design for BFRB Dogs ~$140 - BFRB Stories ~$1,000 - trademark BFRB Dogs and BFRB Stories (including logos) ~$1,000 - initial swag investment (merchandise) to sell, including design costs $3,500 - service dog training education (myself) to develop training program $425 - establish separate nonprofit entity (in New Hampshire) to certify other dog trainers TBD - develop training program for established dog trainers to certify in BFRB service dog trainer status TBD - recruit additional dog trainers willing to specialize in this cause
