The story of Roxie. Roxie is the westie we rescued a couple of months ago. Many people were interested in adopting her, but Roxie has a lot of trauma. Her former person dumped her at the shelter because "every time I kick her with my foot, she bites me." I can not make this crap up. I could not, in good conscious, adopt her out to someone who is not an "expert" on traumatized dogs. However, at only 2 years old, I didn't want her to be a sanctuary dog. I saw a lot of potential in her for healing with the right person. Viola!!! I pulled David out of my memory bank. David is a westie expert and is dialed in with Westie rescue groups. I contacted Dave and he came over right away to meet her. She bit him a few times...but he was not deterred. He took her home that day and started the rehabilitation process with her. She has come such a long way with David. She is loving with him and trusts him. This morning David sent me this video of taking Roxie (and her westie siblings) to the Oregon Gardens. He wrote," OMG She LOVED it! Like someone who was just released from prison!"
I just watched the video and cried. Happy tears! This is what keeps me going on the hard days and gives me faith in the human race. Many thanks to David for not giving up on Roxie! 🙏💜🩵💙
