Benny Reynolds on Big Bend’s “Trade Winds” – San Francisco, 1964
In the heart of the Cow Palace, under the bright lights of the 1964 San Francisco Rodeo, Montana legend Benny Reynolds climbed down onto one of the rankest broncs of the Big Bend string—Trade Winds.
Reynolds, already a force in the arena with his gritty, no-nonsense style, matched every jump of that powerful horse. Trade Winds was known for his explosive first move and high, rolling leaps—exactly the kind of challenge Benny thrived on.
Back when rodeo was raw, unforgiving, and as real as the dust in your teeth, Benny Reynolds stood tall as one of the toughest all-around cowboys to ever pull a cinch. And on that day in ’64, he proved once again why he would go on to become a World Champion and a legend of the arena.
A cowboy, a bronc, and a moment that still echoes through rodeo history.
