Lakeshore Animal Friends Mason County’s oldest Animal Advocacy Group, started 1993, is a non profit IRS 501(c)(3).

Serving Mason County,since 1993, we partner with Animal Control to provide spay/neuter assistance for all dogs and cats adopted from Animal Control and assume care for some needing to be fostered or have medical needs. Volunteers home foster abandoned kittens and cats, offer transportation to the community for cats to low cost spay/neuter clinics. All donations fund spay/neuter, medical, fostering, education and projects that support pets within our community.

"Blujo" Male American Bully 8 months old
He needs to be in a home with older kids, we are unsure how he is with cats. We recommend a meet and greet with other dogs.

We had some great adoptions today. 3 kitties went to their new forever homes. First Hardy found his best friend with a sweet girl named Niamh. They hit it off right away. Hardy seemed very happy. Holly will have a home with a couple cute little girls who were so excited to meet her. Hollys new name is Pumpkin. Sheldon is going to be so spoiled by his new parents. He’s also had another cat and dog waiting for him at home. A big Thanks to Donna and her husband for adopting Sheldon. Congratulations kitties on your new homes.

Don’t miss out on this great music with Jimmy Dodson while eating fabulous spaghetti at our dinner fundraiser. Available until 8 pm at the Hamlin Town Hall.

We wrapped up our three day 30th Anniversary celebration at Doc's Sauble River Inn with cake for all and a drawing of the Gas Grill package. The lucky ticket was purchased through our website online by Amy Noonan of Ludington. We are so thankful to Rob Beck and his entire staff for making this fundraiser so successful. Special thanks to Jerry for his help last night! We met awesome people this week who donated to our mission to spay/neuter cats and dogs and helping pets in need. Thank you Ludington Walmart for the grill, Ludington Meat Company for the gift certificate and Dee Stadler for the Pampered Chef utensils.

We can’t believe no one has adopted this big snuggle bug yet! Max is an awesome boy who wants to be part of a family and be loved. He will give so much love back. He loves to be petted and to snuggle. He will make a great companion for someone. Max’s previous owners moved out and left him locked in the house for days/weeks alone with a dog and 2 other cats- he is so sweet and we just don’t understand how anyone could leave this boy. We guess him to be about 2-3 years old. He’s now neutered and up to date on his shots and vaccines. He’s ready for his forever indoor only home. Mocha is another beautiful kitty who is super friendly and looking for her forever indoor only home. She loves to sit on your lap and give head bumps. She’s a short hair tortie with very soft furr. This is Jack!! He’s amazing. He is so friendly and lovable. Can you believe he’s been living outside most of his young life? He’s about a year old. We are loving his personality and how much love he gives. He is looking for an indoor only home, a human or a family all his own. He’s got long hair and looks to be Maine coon or Turkish van mix. He’s neutered and up to date on his shots. He’s just waiting for his own home. He’s a big lover. Call Lakeshore Animal Friends at 231-794-7328 for more information.

Remember Sammy? He was adopted yesterday. He was overlooked by so many people. We had him for 6 months in our care. We knew he was a great kitty, but he didn’t act real interested in people when they came to meet him. He was a little shy at first. This video was taken less than 24 hours after he was adopted. This just shows to not overlook the older, shy kitty’s. Look at him making biscuits ❤️

Orphan babies update: Chip and Dale (Monks siblings) are doing well. We also got a phone call from animal control that another orphan (Pepper) came in, so we went and picked her up. We have 3 littles that need to be syringe fed about every 3 hours right now. They are getting stronger (and I think louder). Aren’t they cute?

Our Story

LAF provides spay and neuter assistance to those dogs, puppies, cats and kittens adopted from Mason County Animal Control by providing certificates to be used at local veterinarians. We foster cats and kittens received from Mason County Animal Control or other limited situations and find them permanent homes. LAF also supports education and ethical treatment of all animals. LAF is a 100% volunteer based organization supported only by donations. Unfortunately, we do not foster or rescue dogs.
