Covington Creek Veterinary Hospital A "high-touch" veterinary practice for dogs & cats. The current owner, Dr. Colin Chaves, provides progressive medicine for dogs and cats.

We prioritize quality of care over high-volume daily interactions, providing patient-centered & personalized attention to improve outcomes, foster trust, & establish long-term relationships. Established in 1986 by Dr. Leslie Adler, Covington Creek Veterinary Hospital has grown to include a boarding facility. Located just outside of Ft. Bragg city limits, Covington Creek sits on over 2 beautifully landscaped acres that boast several Redwood trees, as well as peace and quiet.

Have you heard about the donkey rescue in Hopland, California? We donate to Oscar’s Place Adoption Center & Sanctuary monthly & Niki volunteers weekly. At the beginning of 2026, the reality documentary series "Donkey King" premeried on ABC. Watch for FREE at https://www.oscarsplace.org/donkey-king

It is the greatest gift of my life to be able to give these donkeys their story endings.

Both of them. Whatever those endings look like.

Episode 8 is the most emotional episode of this season. Megan is at the center of it. What she carries — what we all carry — is the hardest and most beautiful part of this work.

Saturday morning. Donkey King Episode 8: Chrissy Finds Comfort.
Watch party Saturday 8 AM PT — link in bio.

Social Media can be dangerous - bad advice as well as derogatory gossip seem to be running rampant in today's society. Sometimes people have an ulterior motive that isn't always obvious. Always ask us to clarify information before spreading disinformation. https://news.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=210&Id=13083759&fbclid=IwY2xjawQbBrFleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFnSzRLaDRxZll1UUFjZTZNc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHs688Y2qdG3vWHk0Ifbw7ZhG9jRT-enNv6wDCNWTvVDbVcna9sM_kX3i9PkQ_aem_2uvPE4VsROFM1KUazqcuwA&f5=1

Pop-Up Whale Watch This Sunday!

Ocean conditions look beautiful for a Marine Wildlife Excursion this Sunday. We need 9 more spots filled to make this trip a GO!

Sarah Grimes, Katherina Audley, Tim Bray and other bird and marine mammal experts will be serving as naturalists aboard the Kraken from 10 AM to 3 PM on Sunday, March 1 to see what we can find out there.

Last year at this time we encountered a large group of Risso’s dolphins, and a Laysan Albatross lingered near the boat for a long while. You never know what you’ll see out in the canyon.

$120 per person. Contact tbray at mcn dot org to reserve your spot.

We are fortunate to live relatively close to Bubbling Well Pet Memorial Park. Clients can choose to send their pets there through us, or you can experience a "witness cremation" if you take your pet to their facility. You can spend time with your pet in a special room before cremation, & then watch the entire process to ensure that it's only your pet's cremains that you receive. They place the cremains in an urn of your choice, either provided by them or one that you have brought with you.

Bubbling Well Pet Memorial Park, nestled in the hills of Napa Valley, offers serene views from our park. We offer Private Burials, Cremation and other Memorial Services to honor your beloved pet.

"Everyone in this country, except the lucky folks in Hawaii, absolutely has rabies spreading in their community," said Dr. Ryan Wallace, a veterinary epidemiologist and head of the CDC's rabies surveillance program. "Every year, about 100,000 Americans have to get vaccinated because of a potential rabies exposure … and we have tens of thousands of dogs euthanized for rabies testing, the majority of which are unvaccinated.""

Please consider signing - these practices often discourage would-be veterinarians from entering vet school. Dr. Chaves DID NOT participate in "terminal procedures" when he was in vet school over 20 years ago. Most vet schools have abolished this cruelty. "....UC Davis, one of the nation’s most influential veterinary programs, continues to rely on terminal labs that require students to perform procedures and then end the lives of their patients before recovery......These outdated training methods deprive students of the opportunity to practice post-anesthesia recovery and deny patients access to the veterinary care they need."

Every year, veterinary students across the country graduate having performed only a limited number of procedures. At Our Honor, we believe every veterinary student deserves meaningful, hands‑on experience with animals who genuinely need medical care. Students should graduate confident on day one, ...

You've surely seen the poster in our "cat exam room" explaining why declawing cats is cruel - it's been hanging there for almost 18 years. Well, now it's illegal on California! 😻😻😻

California is now the seventh state to prohibit cat declawing for nontherapeutic reasons. The law was signed despite opposition from the California VMA, which believes veterinarians, not legislators, should have the professional discretion to determine the necessity of the procedure.

Today, fueled by $110.5 million in philanthropic gifts to date, we launch the next phase of the Veterinary Medical Complex at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. This expansion will increase patient care capacity to 70,000 animals annually, expand class sizes to train more veterinarians, and accelerate research in cancer, translational medicine, and beyond.
