The halter combo is handmade in the USA using premium soft yacht rope with a matching lead. The rope halter has fiador knots strategically placed to speed up communication with your donkey. Pull the lead line to the right, and the knot touches the donkey’s face on the left. Pull to the left, and the fiador knot touches the right side of the donkey’s head. Pull the lead line down to whoa, and all of the knots send a clear message to whoa.

The Donkey Whisperer Farm ® marker is on the halter mini, stand, and B***o. The lead line is six feet for miniature donkeys and nine feet for B***o and Standard donkeys.

Custom-made for donkeys, our tack is made without metal, even the finish, as the halter ends are melted. It is quality and built to last. Most of our customers have had their tack for nine or more years.

Dirty? How can I clean my tack? Wash in a bucket of warm, soapy water and dry. Premium soft yacht rope (marine rope) will never shrink and is resistant to mold, mildew, frailty, rot, and UV resistant. This means your tack will stay in its original form longer without breaking or fading, saving you money.

Please do not leave any halter on your donkey, mule, or horse while not in 100% attendance to avoid death or self-mutilation.

Did you know that donkeys are exotic equine and that donkeys evolved from the desert? One of the donkey's gifts is the ability to survive in the desert. Donkeys' metabolism helps them survive and thrive on low-sugar and protein forage. Horses cannot survive whereas a donkey can survive in the wild.

Donkeys gain weight really fast. The first thing most people do to help the obese donkey is lock the donkey inside a dry paddock. The 2nd is a grazing muzzle. Grazing muzzles seldom fit a donkey and the donkey hates it. The dry paddock creates depression, the donkey stands and lays day after day waiting for the next meal.

Create a paradise paddock for your easy keeper the donkey. Our donkeys and horses are constantly walking, and running on their track. Most importantly always give your donkey another donkey to live with. Size and s*x matter, be sure and keep geldings with geldings and jennies (female) with the girls. Donkeys grab the neck in play and in battle and can seriously hurt another donkey. Remember to add toys, a jolly ball, an orange traffic cone, or a rubber grain bowl.

Meals should be tested low sugar/protein hay 10% or lower in sugar and protein with portion control. We use the hay pillow. Be careful with straw as even straw can be high in sugar. Straw has no nutritional value, only given to healthy donkeys with regular dental care as a boredom buster. Clean water is a must, warm in the winter. Give lose-free salt with minerals. No oats, sweet feed, bread, or free grazing on brush and grass.

Have you ever tried to walk two donkeys? One donkey is dragging behind, one is going ahead or side ways. Two lead lines are difficult to hold. Order a link line to walk two donkeys using one lead line. I use the stick and string to reach out and touch my donkeys an extension of my hand not a whip, along with words, whoa, over, back-up, walk-on. :)

The Desert Equine, Donkey Hoof Abscess Symptoms:

1. Laying down more than normal.
2. Limping, hoping on three legs, will not put the entire hoof down.
3. Many times the donkey can look like he/she has a broken leg.

What causes hoof abscess in donkeys?

1. Feeding the wrong diet, letting the donkey graze on rich green grass and brush.
2. Round bales in the field- cause obesity, obesity triggers hoof abscesses.
3. Over feeding hay. It is very important to have portion control for your donkey. Do not starve an obese donkey. Give more hay during extreme cold weather.
4. Not testing our hay to ensure it is 10% or lower in sugar and protein. Portion control is very important.
5. Standing in mud, p**p and urine.
6. Hoof Trim that is way too aggressive digging in the sole of the
hoof.

How Do I prevent Hoof Abscesses In Donkeys?
Control the diet.
1. Create a dry paddock paradise connected to the sacrifice area, shelter with clean water.
2. Ensure your donkey is at a healthy weight not obese. If obese learn how to get your donkey healthy.
3. Pick up the p**p and urine every day.
4. Make sure you have gutters on your shelter.
5. Weigh your donkey regularly. Feel for fat bumps, watch the neck for obesity.
6. Older donkeys need annual blood tests for cushings and insulin resistance.
