I take courses on equine nutrition every year as my personal furthering education. I feel like I need to scream this at nearly the entire Arab industry🤔 Horses should NOT be fed “meals” keep a free choice grass filled hay net “or better yet, grass turnout” in front of them all day/night. Supplement with Alfalfa. Add a very good Vit/Min sup. And for Fu($ sake, stop trying to make weanling/yearlings look like 3yr olds!!! I do add a triple crown junior or senior feed for the horses that need a little more weight.

The recurrence of ulcers is frustrating for owners, painful for horses and nearly guaranteed if the cause of the ulcers is not removed.

One of the most common causes of equine ulcers is an unsuitable diet... yet people can sometimes be reluctant to make the required changes 🤷‍♀️

Eliminating starchy grains & sweet feeds from the equine diet is rule number one… and yet many horse owners (especially those with performance horses) mistakenly believe that their horses have increased energy demands that require 'high energy' feeds to refuel them.

However evidence backed studies have now proven that horses perform better on forage only diets.

Stunning 2016 Dun mare. 16h massive bone, perfect feet, never needed shoes, great weight bearing horse. She is the “bomb proof, husband, grandma safe” trail horse. More whoa then go. Will happily walk/jog/trot for days, you have to ask for the canter. She still canters, we haven’t gotten her solid in her lope yet. Mountains , water, bridges? She won’t bat an eye. Swung ropes off her, really doesn’t care. Would make a great feedlot/ranch horse. Dogs? Guns? Bikes? Quads? She doesn’t care. She is truly a horse that’s worth her weight in gold. She is my husbands trail horse “he’s a 76yrs old none horseman”. We love her, and are in 0 hurry for her to sell. But we aren’t using her. So she’s being offered to the right home.

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math provide a clue to explain the two-way ′′healing′′ that occurs when we're close to horses.
According to researchers, the heart has an electromagnetic field larger than the brain: a magnetometer can measure the energy field of the heart that radiates from 2.4 meters to 3 meters around the human body.
While this is certainly significant, perhaps more impressive than the electromagnetic field projected by the heart of a horse is five times larger than that of a human being (imagine an electromagnetic sphere around the horse) and it can influence straight into our own heart rate.
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a "coherent′′ heart rate (heart rate pattern) that explains why we can feel better when we're close to them. Studies have found a coherent heart pattern or HRV to be a solid measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy-that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adapt to stressful situations very efficiently. Many times, we just need to be in the presence of horses to feel a sense of well-being and peace.
In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits by interacting with horses, including lower blood pressure and heart rate, higher beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters acting as pain suppressors), decreased stress levels, decreased feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, better social working; and greater feelings of empowerment, confidence, patience and self-efficacy.

Rheya is shockingly beautiful with great fire, still very sweet and loves people. She would be a stunning under saddle mare or take her into the halter ring.
