I received some bad news today. My Bella boo has crossed the rainbow bridge. Bella was in my dog training classes when I lived in Myrtle Beach. Bella was a great girl. I loved her so much. She always had a special place in my heart. I loved that she had a chance to be in classes with other Great Danes, including my own.

Bella’s sister, River, sadly passed away not too long before Bella did. I didn’t have the pleasure of having River in my classes but I didn’t need to. She was trained just like we trained Bella. She was the bestest Great Dane too.

They both crossed the rainbow bridge having succumbed to bone cancer.

Fly high Bella boo and River. I hope you both find Lucy and be the bestest friends.

Happy heavenly Birthday to my Lucy girl. Without you I wouldn't have a business name. She was the best dog I have ever had. Ophelia fills some of the void of losing you so long ago but there is still an empty space in my heart from when I lost you.

Independence Day is a couple days away. If your dog is afraid of the fireworks, give them a safe spot to go. A closet or a covered crate works great. Don’t coddle them. Let them have their space. When you pet, talk or smother the dog, it exacerbates their fear. You can also get some cbd oil. I prefer the cbd oil over chews because the oil absorbs in to the gums when you administer it and chews get broken down by the acids in their stomachs and may be less effective. Keep your fearful pets inside. So many cats and dogs get lost during the 4th of July. Keep them safe keep them inside! Happy 4th and stay safe!

STOP PUTTING PUPPIES IN BOXES. it’s terrifying for the puppy even if it is for a minute. It’s especially terrifying when the box opens and there is a dog staring at it. Just stop!!

I started teaching her this before we left Florida. Hadn’t really practiced it as she hurt her knee when we first moved to texas. Here she is with the cue “back” while we are walking in a heel position. She also knows “back” when she’s in front of me or I want her a few steps away from me.

Aside from The 4th of July, this is another time of year people will be lighting off fireworks. If your dog is scared of fireworks, they tend to run.

You can take precautions with your pets by doing the following:

1) keep them inside.
2) give them a safe place to go and hide. This could be a crate, closet or under the bed.
3) if they hide, leave them alone. If you constantly pet them and tell them they are ok, you are essentially keeping the fear alive.
4) calming chews or CBD oil work great to keep your dog calm. Do not get CBD oil in petco or petsmart. They aren’t true CBD oils. A true CBD oil can cost from 40.00-60.00. They tend to sell them in mom and pop pet shops and smaller pet store chains.

If anyone want recommendations on which CBD oil or calming chews to get, just ask. I am happy to help keep your pups safe.

I had the honor to train with this pup and his mom while I was a dog trainer at the Boynton Beach Petco in Florida. He was a smart boy and always made me smile no matter how bad of a day I was having. He always had a smile on his face. He was always eager to learn new things. Sometimes I thought he was too smart for his own good.

In the past few days All Joys mom reported that he wasn’t well. X-rays showed he had a fishhook in his digestive system. Facebook friends from near and far all prayed for him as he underwent surgery to remove a fishhook from his bowels. It tore them up pretty bad. He survived the surgery but was not out of the woods yet. His mom took him back to the vet a couple more times this week as he wasn’t doing well at all. Unfortunately, All Joy succumbed to infection that tore through his bowels after surgery.

I am sad that he will no longer be able to lift people up as he did me once a week. Such a happy dog. Nina was the best mom to AJ and I cannot thank her enough for giving him all the love and care a dog deserves. Say a prayer for Nina tonight as she mourns the loss of her friend and companion for many years.

This world needs more dogs like All Joy.

I cannot stress enough how much consistency is key when working with your dog. Inconsistency leads the dog to repeat the unwanted behavior. If you are trying to correct an unwanted behavior, such as jumping or counter surfing, you HAVE to correct it the same way EVERY SINGLE TIME. Stop telling your dog “off” or “.no”. It doesn’t work.
