If you don't know, someone (a 17 year old girl) reported Lane Area Ferret Shelter to Animal Control in Eugene, OR. I had a visit from Animal Control yesterday, but I wasn't ready for them to come to my house, so I asked them to come back today, which they did. The officers were very nice women who are only interested in making sure all the animals in my care are healthy and well cared for. They were here doing their jobs, I always have to remind myself that it is NOT personal at all. Well, they didn't find anything! They looked at all the cages we have, looked at the floors, and said they didn't see "f***s everywhere" as was stated in the complaint. They said they noticed that it smelled like ferrets, but that was understandable. 😊 They asked a bunch of general questions about ferrets, asked where they came from to be surrendered to me, asked where PetCo got their ferrets, and kept smiling at how cute they were! I didn't think it would be a problem, but I also didn't want to give them a reason to have to come back! 😊 So, this has pretty much been a big nothingburger, and I couldn't be happier! I still have a bunch of ferrets that need adopting though, so if you are interested, please call (541) 484-1090 to do the pre-adoption phone interview and make an appointment to meet adoptable ferrets! :)

Thank you to everyone who sent me good vibes, kept my spirits up with wonderful messages of support, sent commiserating messages about people who make trouble for shelters for stupid reasons, helped me race to clean up as much as I could - you are all Rock Stars in my book! I love you all! ❤🥰😍

Animal Control was just here. I didn't let them in today, but they will be back tomorrow to make sure the animals are being taken care of. I know that the shelter isn't as clean as it can be, but I'm going to get it in better shape by tomorrow. I wish I had someone who could help tomorrow before 2 pm.

25/08/2024

Due to my health and the lack of volunteer help, I am forced to cease taking in surrenders effective October 1, 2024; I will be attempting to adopt out all the ferrets in the shelter over the next 4 months as I hope to close the shelter permanently January 1, 2025 or whenever I have adopted out all ferrets currently in the shelter system, including those in our Newport shelter. If it's earlier, YaY! If not, I'll keep going. I won't get rid of the 501(c)3 we have, so I can still do fundraising for the shelter ferrets. I do not do this lightly; my mental health as well as my physical health are both bad right now.

To adopt, you still need to do a phone interview with me, so please call (541) 484-1090 to do the interview! We have ferrets ranging in age from 2 years to 10 years! Several singles, some special needs, 9 pairs, 5 trios, and 1 quad -- all ferrets in a group must stay with that group!

22/08/2024

UPDATE: No transportation needed. I was contacted by a group in Clark County who said that transporting them to me would be illegal and they would contact the local Humane Society to pick them up.
I need to have a pair of male ferrets who have medical issues transported from Vancouver, Wa to Eugene. It would be nice if they could get to a vet tomorrow, if you have time to do that too, but if someone can get them to me, I'll get them to an emergency vet here, but getting them to a vet sooner would be better! Please let me know if you can help.

OK, now I need to see if I can get help at the 2024 Ferret Agility Trials on September 8! I need help from 11 am to 5 pm at Emerald Park in Eugene, OR. I need people to run the ferret games, people to run the kid/carnival games (I may have some Scouts who will be helping, but I don't know right now), people to run the Bandit Boutique (our store), people to help with registration, people to help with setup and tear down, people to help with the shelter area, and probably more stuff! Please let me know if you can help out! It's coming up really soon! Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Update on Cathrine Peterson wellness check. An officer went to her house and talked to her husband. The husband says she's on a motorcycle trip with her new boyfriend to Sturgis. The officer says he will continue to try to contact her by text and phone to ensure she's ok.

I just sent an officer of the Klamath County Sheriff's department to do a wellness check on Cathrine Peterson. I'll post when I hear what they find.

Just got two female ferrets in; when the woman called to find out if I could take them, she said she had one male, but she didn't know what the other one was. She said she had seen male parts dangling between it's legs. When I got them, I saw that what she saw was NOT the male parts, but a large swollen v***a of a female with adrenal disease! She had rescued them from an animal shelter where she lives in southern Oregon where they had been trying to feed them rabbit and hamster food! She hasn't had ferrets, but she knew that they couldn't eat that food. So, she adopted them from the shelter and brought them to me! Now I have two unnamed female ferrets of unknown age, but I'm sure the albino with adrenal disease is at least 6; the silver with no discernable illnesses, is probably 4 or 5 as far as I can tell looking at their teeth.

So, long story short (too late! ) I need names for these ferrets!
