Our Ohana, it is with heavy heart that we ask you to help our dog Kahana. She has a broken leg and a peace of metal embedded in her muscle. She has no entry or exit wound, so Dr Kelly suspects that this is an old injury and that piece of metal is moved and now causing issues. Dr Kelly with Aloha affordable is willing to do a surgery and estimated cost is $750. After the surgery is done, Kahana will need weekly vet checks, antibiotics and care until the leg is recovered. We kindly ask you to donate to Kaaawa K9 rescue or to send a check to Aloha Affordable with a note “For Kahana with Kaaawa K9 Rescue”. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
Please pray for her recovery.

Aloha!
Kaaawa K9 Reacue is still cut off from water for a very long periods of time. Michelle is forced to carry empty water jugs by herself to the river to fill them up and then bring them back to clean the kennels..
Feeding and watering them is a challenge, not to mention giving dogs a bath after a walk..
Kaaawa K9 Rescue and Michelle need help with bringing water to the shelter. Not just for cleaning, but as well for watering animals and preparing them for a meet and greet.
If you are able to help and bring the water to the shelter please contact Michelle at 808 392 4836.
Our only effort is to re- home all the dogs that in the shelter and provide a good care for them while they are with us.
Mahalo!
Daily update:
Shelter is still without water.
Maintaining clean shelter is a daily struggle. We use the empty jugs and fill them at the close by river - since there is no water source we can use nearby.
If anyone can donate more water jugs or a small cart to help with jugs transportation it will be appreciated. Please comment on this post and we will reach out.
The goal is to provide clean and safe environment for the dogs. Please help!
Mahalo!
P’S. In the video there sleeps lovely Trinity.. the loud noises don’t scare her.. she is a full of love beauty. Please comment on the post if you are interested in meeting her.
Update:
Hawaii Police Officers and Humane Society assisted us to taking care of the dogs on property.
Shelter still does not have full access to water and we are forced to buy water by the gallon.
We are working hard on placing all animals into proper care. If you are willing to foster or adopt please contact us.
We are always and always will be focused on wellbeing of dogs in need.

Our Story
Kaaawa K9 Rescue is a 501c3 not-for-profit charitable rescue organization founded in 2015 in Kaaawa, Oahu. We specialize in rescuing dogs who are severely abused, neglected, and abandoned on the island. We work tirelessly every day, to rehabilitate and find loving homes for the animals we take under our care.
Kaaawa K9 responds to the abuse and neglect distress calls daily and assist in all phases of the rescue regardless of breed. As the only NO KILL shelter on the Windward side, we are convinced that every dog deserves a chance to live a full, happy life, no matter how neglected, abused, or hurt it is - no animal in dire need of rescue is turned away by our organization.
Overbreeding and unaffordable vet care on the island has been the underlying cause of rising numbers of abandoned animals on the island.
Kaaawa K9 Rescue pioneered as a leader in creating multiple low-income community and hunter community programs that advocate responsible animal ownership and spay/neuter program. We partnered with numerous Veterinary clinics in the effort to provide affordable vet care to a large number of communities from Kailua to the North Shore.
We believe that with proper mentoring, education, and affordable medical care, the acute problem of thousands of abused and abandoned animals on the island can be solved.
