Hot AF? 🥵 This pack knows how to keep it cool! 😎

I didn’t realize the pack was going to teach me so much. ✨

Love this moment when I release the pack to explore and they all come to check back in. 🥰
Join me on our morning hike while I ramble about dogs
We introduced Buddy to the pack life today. Dudes a natural.✨
Energy is everything. You can weigh 2lbs and punk out a 55lb pitbull with your energy alone. This is what I teach my clients, how to hone their inner kitten energy. 😂🤍✨

Keep flowing. 🤍✨

Walk thru the woods with 14 dogs on an ungroomed trail swarming with mosquitoes. I promise that will keep you present in the now. 🤣🦟
Nothin’ fancy, no rushing is our only ask on load up. Now the unloading process is a bit different. Wanna see it next?
I love this moment between our recent board and train graduate, Bella and our new recruit in our Leashing The Wild program, Rani. Rani has recently started fighting with her housemate Ren and the pack dynamic is unbalanced. It’s really cool to see our pack bring balance and harmony to dogs that are struggling. Bella puts on just enough social pressure to establish her boundaries but not enough to push Rani into defense drive. We got to see lots of these moments today with each member of the pack greeting Rani and welcoming her into our pack. I can’t wait to bring her sister Ren in!

With pack work we are consistently looking to move the dogs in pack drive. When they’re in pack drive they’re more connected to us and focused on where we are going. Yes, they are obviously allowed to switch to prey drive and explore their environment but we always want them to be connected to us. We teach this through recall practice. We ask the dogs to come back into us at random times throughout every hike. After tons of practice they start moving with us without any direction. Some dogs will instinctually do this with zero “training”. Those dogs have a stronger pack drive. 😉 We don’t allow the pack to stay in defense drive. If any one of them raises the energy too much we will ask them to come back into us for a reset. This is how we keep our packs balanced with minimal obedience, commands, food, leashes, ecollar etc. We are simply working with nature and how these amazing pack animals communicate. I f**king love it.

Our pack is allowed time to free play and explore but when it’s time to get moving we flow together as a a pack. ✨

Bella has come so far! She now exits her crate without hesitation or coaxing. Before she would refuse to come out and she would bite any hand that reached in there to get her out. We still have some things to work on with her confidence but she’s made tons of progress!

Your backyard and neighborhood is not truly fulfilling your dog. Go get out in nature with them!

I am often asked about how the different sizes of dogs interact within the pack. People are always concerned that their little dogs won’t be able to hang with the big dogs. Or that their dog would become injured with the big dogs. This would be true if the is were a chaotic dog park or doggy daycare facility, but that’s not our jam. We work dogs in their natural environment and keep the energy level intentionally low. We also provide the pack with a ton of guidance and leadership so they know we always have things under control. Plus our pack is balanced, they know how to safely socialize with dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments. This allows us to safely socialize dogs of all sizes together safely.

Bella has been kicked out of grooming and boarding facilities for “aggression” in her crate. What I’ve found is a dog who is stuck in defense drive. When she cannot flee she has no other choice other than to fight.
So I’m taking the time she needs to process thru her emotions around the crate threshold. The leash adds in enough physical pressure to get her to move forward into pack drive. When she comes into me I give her calm affection. Then I ask her to go back into the crate and we repeat the drill. This is helping shift how she feels about coming out of the crate. We will practice this every time we go in and out of the crate until she feels better about it.
