Hello, friends!!
* If you are interested in Monty, please send me a message or email at emeraldmeadows@comcastnet with your information, type of household you have, and your experience with dogs with severe anxiety.
Immediate action needed or they will have to euthanized the dog!! If you know someone that can even foster this dog, please message right away!! Owner has a sudden major medical condition, that will not allow her to even come home from the hospital, with the dog in the house for over a year!!
From Client:
We need a permanent placement for my sister’s bernadoodle. If you know anyone or if you are interested, please get in touch with me.
Montague, Monty for short, is a loyal and loving 85 # four-year-old Bernedoodle. Up-to-date on shots and neutered. He loves walks and hikes and gives the best hugs and cuddles, always wanting to be next to his people.
He is great with commands and was loving the first level agility training. He knows come, right here, sit, stay, place, park it, mark, “bang,” etc. I only need to say whoops once if he doesn’t listen the first time. 😁 He loves to work outside and is pretty good with going through a tunnel, around a post, and up/down a ramp. He plays well with our ShihTzu/Yorkie mix and his half brother, also a Bernedoodle. He is highly treat-motivated!!
He does need a firm yet gentle owner who will understand and work with his fear reactivity.
Due to being attacked by a dog and then teased by neighbors, he can struggle when he sees other dogs on a walk and is fiercely protective of his home, yard, and people. (Full disclosure: he nipped at the neighbor girl when she didn't listen to his barking and put her arm in our yard, and bit my daughter's boyfriend when he didn't know him, no broken skin. I keep him leashed up when anyone new comes in the house, and it can take a few visits before he warms up to them. I had begun muzzle-training for vet visits and times I needed to have assurance, but he’s not quite there yet. He takes a while to warm up to strangers.)
Unfortunately, it's a personal medical diagnosis with a year or more recovery that necessitates this adoption and nothing else. Monty is such a sweet boy, and it's with great sorrow that I'm forced to find a new home for him. I know he'll be much happier with someone who can give him the time and attention he needs.
Monty is free to whomever can love and enjoy him. His bed, kennel, and accessories come with him.
