How do we change the world? One random act of kindness at a time. Today we experienced unexpected kindness.

Our volunteers have been gathering items for Team Stinkykiss Shelter evacuees. We just happened to stop at BarkMart in Graniteville. So happens that December Clark, with Shelter Animal Advocates and her husband, had many wire crates to donate. Then they also donated bags of dog and cat food. Shop local. Shop BartMart - they have a big heart.

After seeing all the crates we obviously needed a truck. Lucky for us David White pulled up in a pickup truck to buy his dog a birthday present. Hmmmm. Must be a good guy - he’s a dog lover. Approaching a complete stranger is sometimes uncomfortable but…he is a dog lover so why not?! We asked David if he could carry the crates to the Fairgrounds. And he said YES!

There is no telling what we can do together as a community. Thank you BarkMart. Thank you December Clark. And thank you David!

Sometimes miracles are good people with kind hearts.

About the clinician:

Mirka Crew comes originally from the Czech Republic and is now a dual citizen of the Czech Republic and the USA, residing in Richland, Georgia. She has spent 20 years training horses for the public, teaching clinics, judging competitions and competing in western disciplines; Stock-Horse/Versatility, Western Dressage, and the discipline of liberty and bridleless riding. Mirka is a 7x World Champion, has placed TOP 5 in several Extreme Mustang Makeovers, Mustang Magic events and ILHA Invitational Freestyle performances. She seeks lightness in responsiveness, connection and harmony with each horse. Over the years, through influence of many great human and equine mentors, Mirka has discovered that collection can be achieved even at liberty and bridle-less, she calls this approach Posture Focused Training. Mirka believes that the sky is NOT the limit and her passion is helping her students establish their unstoppable mindset. She believes that there is only one true limit, the one we place upon ourselves.

The Equine Rescue is donation driven. Donations enable us to continue to save not only starvation cases, but also help transition retired race horses - each with their unique story of transformation and hope. One such remarkable story is that of “Pipes” an Off-the-Track-Thoroughbred who exemplifies the incredible difference that donations can make.

Pipes, the last horse from AIKEN’S own Dogwood Stables, was responsibly retired from racing. He entered out Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) program and today, is a thriving athlete.
His spirited nature has caught the eye of many, and he’s showing exceptionally well in competitions.

Pipes will be competing in the American Eventing Championships at the Novice level, this month. This will be his first experience in such an electric atmosphere since his racing days.

Following the AEC, he will be participating in the TIP Championships at Stable View (Aiken). We are so proud of this boy and wish him well.

Pipes is not just a testament to the resilience and beauty of horses, but also is a testament to the power of compassion and generosity.
