Take your cat to the vet day
About 8 years ago, my kitty Draco faced a urinary blockage that required emergency surgery to remove bladder stones. It was a tough time, and the $1,000 vet bill was just part of the journey. Since then, Draco has been on a prescription diet, and only recently have we been able to gradually introduce other foods for variety.
I’m sharing this because you can never predict when your furry friend might face health issues. Cats are naturally stoic and tend to hide their discomfort, as showing weakness could make them vulnerable in the wild. That’s why it’s so important to take your cat to the vet at least once a year for an annual checkup.
If you notice any changes in behavior—like spending more time in the litter box, tenderness in their belly, or irregular drinking habits—don’t wait. Go to the vet immediately. It could make all the difference in your cat's health.
Today is the purr-fect reminder to schedule that check-up for your feline friend. Regular vet visits are crucial for keeping your cat healthy and happy. Attention Male Cat Owners: If your cat is having trouble urinating, this could be a sign of a serious issue like a urinary blockage, which can be life-threatening if not treated right away. Don’t wait—get them to the vet immediately!

Signs of heat stroke in dogs:
- Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
- Drooling or thick, sticky saliva
- Increased heart rate
- Weakness, lethargy, or collapse
- Bright red or pale gums & tongue

Cats are inherently hunters in their genes. No matter how much of a house cat you may think they are...they are still a hunter.
It's important to help mimic their hunt with interactive play.
Why?
1 - promotes exercise
2 - decreases boredom
3 - eliminates undesirable behaviors
4 - strengthens your bond
5 - makes your cat happy!
How long should you play with your cat?
1 - adult cats should be played with for AT LEAST 5 minutes a day, preferably more!
2 - kittens under 6 months should be played with for approximately 2 hours a day (if there are two kittens, they can help reduce the time by playing together)
So! Have you played with your cat? Like really played?
Hint: with interactive toys like a feather wand, kitty dancer etc.
Can you tell if your cat is in pain?
If you didn't know, cats are very stoic as they are both PREY and PREDATORS. This combination can provide a sticky situation for our kitties in that they don't want to come off as weak, hurt or ill.
This researched backed tool, the Feline Grimace Scale (FGS) is a facial expression scale that measures specific features of feline faces that has shown to be a fast but VALID in acute pain assessment. The FGS assesses the cats ear position, orbital tightening, muzzle tension, whisker position and head positions to determine pain levels.

Let's talk about water fountains. We might think they only need cleaning once a month, but that's not true. Filters last 2-4 weeks, but within 24 hours, slime and grime from pets' saliva, paws, and dust build up. This leaves the fountain slimy and gross, even for humans. Let's make a pact to deep clean our water fountains once a week with soap and water. Our pets deserve the best as they are family. Lets make a pact to clean deep clean our fountains 1x a week with soap and water. Who's with me?
