Did you know Tucky is a compassion foster resident at the Sanctuary almost 8 years now? When I agreed to help his owner was admitted to rehab in a nursing home. It was shared this was temporary. Here we are almost 8vyrars later. Hes been a joy and some. The added expenses, his everyday care requirment and me getting bit every time I try to perform his daily care needs. Him marking everything that is new from toys to furniture. His screams when upset and happy and did I share how badly her triggers my allergies. So monthly injections and back up meds and added prevention meds.
His weekly visits to his mom. (Thank you to the handful of folks who help make this possible).
He has not seen him mom in over a year. She fell sick and calls where not possible as she lost her voice. Had surgery to repair cords butvtgatcwas short lived. And life got busy hard for me. Picked up a 3rd job 1 full time and 3 part time side hustles. Moved 2 hours south and I failed for many reasons to keep my promise. For many reason but the main one is me not making it a priority anymore. I been burn out for 6 years and the last one just put me over the age.
I'm about to make a call the nursing home and the vet. Both in Bluffton IN. I'm going to establish visits again. I'm going to do my best but I need more help.
I dont have the time to bring him in and sit 1-3 hours or the money to drive weekly to and from. I'm willing to have him ready at the Sanctuary to be picked up and dropped off.
Tucky is due soon for his yearly and senior geriatric bloodwork rabies heartworm lyme test. All this but 1 x has been covered by me. Including his daily eye meds, limited Ingredient dry dog food due to allergies his face folds cleaning solution and his weekly ear car meds as well as his allergy meds as needed do to seasonal allergies.
I need help. I dont have the strength to keep it up and together myself. I love him and I want best for him. Rehoming was not something his mom would allow. We did try with
I'm so sorry for the lack of post lately. I know I always say this but truly I'm always sorry. You all deserves better.
You'll know about Katie Kangaroo? The 13 years young who came to me last December in rough shape after living with her only owner who lived a life of addiction causing Katie to live a life of neglect? Yup the same girl who we thought wouldn't make it more than a month barely weighing then 4 pounds. Today she weighed almost 6 pounds.
A few days ago our senior girl Katie had a amazing meet and greet visit. We met half way. 3 hours later and I just knew her forever human was found. We scheduled a follow up meet and greet for yesturday where Katie would be introduced to the pack. I made the almost 5 hour round trip to make this possible. 5 beautiful little ladies, most mature if not seniors, welcomed my Katie into their pack and my heart exploded with joy. Katie Kagaroo has found her happy forever. She now not only gain a amazing mom, dad, and a awesome home but a pack that welcomed her into what I called their senior dog club community. It was perfect. It is beautiful. It was meant to be. All mature well mannered welcomed our Katie as if she was part of their home always. Things have been a bit sad for us, me at the Sanctuary. Every time a dog big or small is adopted our pack dynamic changes and a impact takes place. We all miss her dearly (especially me) but loving and letting go is part of rescue. Send us and Katie good vibes and positive mojo.
Sometimes letting them go feels impossible to endure but if I'm honest with myself it be unfair to not let them go. Isint a real home better than rescue Sanctuary life? Isint better for them our goal. Even when their best doesn't include us forever? It is better to love and let them go, than to have never experienced the love we felt for one another. I will always be Katie's rescue pack mom and our love for each other will always be perfect. Allowing her to be adopted is a symbol of my devoted forever lo

Katie Kangaroo, my 13 year young senior foster baby will be going home on Thursday. Send me some love! I'm feeling it.
Remember Deedo the senior kitty who wasn't doing so well last week? His allergies are bad causing secondary sinus infection plus his age. But everyday is a blessing and we will do what we can for him and every cat and dog in our care. Happy blessed it be Sunday you'll.
We are always in need of foster homes for dogs and cats.

I'm running late today, but I still wanted to share our $5 Friday effort to support our rescue Sanctuary. Here's a cute picture of Tenkai's happy ears during his walk. It's just too adorable not to share.

The meet and greet scheduled for Katie brings excitement and anticipation. The possibility of a happy forever home for my baby girl is a source of comfort and joy. Also makes me sad and gives me anxiety too. The million what-ifs rushing thoughts as I try to rationalize and separate my emotions from reality. Her best is a happy forever and I'm not part of that as much as I want it to be me. I love her enough to let her go.

Something I noticed but never really put it together until yesterday. Once adopted my dogs earn a softness to them. It's as if they are settled in comfort. embarrassed with a cloud. A calmness of peace earned. Not a bad thing or a weakness at all. Nothing to do with behavior either. It's just a change within. I guess I never really payed attention to this until yesturday. I later understood. Brock now Zimm, Choochoo now Toph, Looney Tunes now AJ, Shaggy Now Merlin all gained their what I can only describe a peacful softness. possibly only by the mightiness of belonging. Maybe im just a goofy nut but I been glowing in supernatural joy since I left their home yesturday. A abundance of mix emotional tears. Good emotions.I needed this smile in my heart. This softness is their way to reassure I can let them go without feeling left behind.
To think their journey started with Appa but lead by Pawpaw who I shortly renamed Happy. Which he happen to be adopted prior by another family and this is why they ended up adopting Rocky. Who they renamed Appa, which happen to be AJ dad. So many signs as the universe aligned for this all to take place but not until the time was right. It is never easy, it has never been easy for me when it comes the time see them go. The feeling of being left behind dwells but it's okay. Because they will be okay.
Their journey to adopt different special need dogs began with their dog Corey. Who Shelby choose. I can close my eyes and see it all cone together. its beautiful. its everything good in this world working together.
Thank you Tammy and Pascal. And family.
💓
In loving memory of Corey, Shelby, Appa and Happy. You all played a crucial part in all of this. 🌈

Update on the 2 senior cats surgery yesterday. Both did well. Cleaning was done and doc did not see any infection. No growth or bad teeth, and infection are under control. Not bad for two 14-year-old cats
However, the momma cat went into labor so she was not spayed and all the kittens seemed healthy. Now we have to figure out wtf to do. If anyone can foster please reach out. In a sense I am relieved but not stressed. My heart hurt a little less but I need to find placement for all of them! This includes vet care spaying and neutering and rescue or homes. Yesterday vet bill ran $768 total which help is still needed. $55 raised.
If you have applied in the last 3 weeks you will hear from me after the firework celebration. I will not place any dogs as a form of prevention and safety. Their best interest is my priority.
Wabbit sends his appreciation as do I. The difference is he does it from the comfort of a big king-size bed in the quiet room.
Stay humble, hydrated, and safe.
3 cats were dropped off at the vet. 2 are seniors who require a dental but doc won't know until they are put under.
1 very pregnant cat who was dumped 12 days or so. We will spay and TNR. I'm heartbroken this is my only option. Moises is very upset with me for doing so.
We still need help raising funds to cover today's vet care. We are still $688 short.

We apologize if our limited social media presence has raised concerns. Our rescue organization operates differently, prioritizing the daily care and well-being of the animals over screen time. My full-time jobs outside of the rescue and our commitment to providing a natural, free-roaming environment for the animals limit my ability to dedicate more time to social media. Fact is without my income there is no rescue. However, i want to assure you that our lack of posts does not reflect our dedication to the animals in our care. We choose to prioritize their needs over superficial appearances.
Also, social media's required algorithms have changed a lot. Requiring constant post. Which I find annoying. I just do not have the time to prep, edit, and the use of filter to meet today's peoples expectations. To do so this means the dogs daily care activity and us time would be heavily compromised. And since we are and thrive as a kennel free crate free free roaming as natural as possible environment. I cannot be heavily present without sacrificing and compromising other needs. This and the fact that I want to be as transparent as possible without compromising or change toward our mission. The ones in our care, their every day every moment needs are our priority.
As a dedicated animal rescue and sanctuary individual as well as my family, I encounter individuals who question my appearance. My attire consists of scrubs for work and practical clothing outside of work. My priority lies in comfort and functionality to effectively care for the animals, which may result in stains and tears. I prioritize my work over maintaining a polished look, as my focus is on ensuring the well-being of the dogs and cats under my care. I choose not to indulge in grooming habits that may distract me from my responsibilities and what really matters.
