⚠️ EMERGENCY PSA: Never Give Your Dog These Common Foods!

We love treating our pups, but some human foods are highly toxic and can cause severe illness or even death. As your professional pet care team, we want to make sure every BCS pup stays safe.

The Big 6 to AVOID:

Alcohol & Caffeine: Highly toxic, even in small amounts. Keep all drinks out of paw's reach.

Avocado: Contains Persin, which can cause stomach upset and diarrhea in dogs.

Macadamia Nuts: Can cause weakness, vomiting, and hyperthermia.

Raw Dough: Yeast can expand in the stomach, causing bloating and dangerous levels of alcohol production.

Cherry Pits/Stems: Contain cyanide that is released when chewed.

If you suspect your dog has ingested any toxic food, contact your vet or the Pet Poison Helpline immediately.

🐕 Destructive Behavior: Excessive barking, chewing, scratching, or digging are common signs of separation anxiety. These behaviors often occur when the dog is left alone.

🐕 Excessive Vocalization: Whining, howling, or barking excessively when alone can also indicate separation anxiety.

🐕 Indoor Accidents in a housebroken dog: If your dog starts having accidents indoors, even if they were previously house-trained, it could be a sign of separation anxiety.

EXPECTING HOLIDAY GUESTS? While we love getting festive, a house full of unfamiliar faces, smells, and loud noises can be overwhelming for our furry family members.

Here are a few tips from Lucky Paws BCS to help your pets feel safe and calm during your holiday gatherings:

Create a Sanctuary: Set up a quiet, comfortable "safe room" (like a bedroom or laundry room) where your pet can retreat. Include their favorite bed, water, and a long-lasting chew or puzzle toy.

Set Boundaries: Communicate clearly with your guests about how to interact with your pet. If your dog is nervous, let them know not to approach or stare.

Manage Door Dashes: Guests frequently coming and going can be an escape risk. Consider putting your pet in their sanctuary before the first guest arrives, or use a baby gate near the door.

Stick to the Schedule: Try to keep feeding times, walk times, and potty breaks as close to your pet's normal routine as possible. Predictability is comforting!

Exercise is Key: A well-exercised pet is a calmer pet. Make sure they get a good, long walk or play session earlier in the day to help burn off anxiety.
