Pretty little Mari is still looking for her forever home ❤️❤️

She is a 5 year old Jack Russell mix. Don’t let that age fool you because she still has lots of energy !! Mari loves to walk and zoom around the house and yard.

Mari is a bit timid and takes a bit of time to warm up but when she does she is perfectly comfortable!!

NJSH uses Home Again microchips for our dogs and cats.

All of the dogs we rescue from the Ocean County Shelter System had Sav This Life chips. Unfortunately Sav This Life went out of business and all of our chips had to be re registered.

We have now successfully reregistered all of our chips through Home Again or made sure that that our adopters have.

Little Rosie who was Mollie when rescued is a Home Again girl amd looking pretty adorable!!

Please check your chips and make sure you do not have a Sav this Life chip. If you do please reregister your chip asap!!

Tommy has been having a great time with us !!!
He is about a year old and is one of the friendliest dogs!!!

Tommy has worked our trainers Tara and Ally - both have given him high marks!!
He is attentive, happy and learning very quickly !!

Tommy lived with his sister and came to the shelter with her. She was already rescued and Tommy came with us!! We believe he will be fine with other dogs but have not completed our testing. Dog meets will be done with the help of our trainers.

Tommy is most certainly ready to start meeting families !! We are currently looking for a foster or foster to adopt family. If interested please complete an application out online at njshpetrescue.org

We have always believed that the overlooked hold the sweetest surprises and Logan was one of those dogs❤️❤️

Misjudged and struggling in the shelter he found someone who believed in him and all these years later he is still the love of her life ❤️❤️

Whiskey was just the perfect fit and we couldnt be happier for this family.

Look at Pumpkin enjoying his home!!
Not sure exactly how he is going to get those fish but we all know that cats are pretty smart!!

Pumpkin came to us through our TNR program. We took in 8 kittens that were in need of veterinary and supportive care. They are all finally healthy and ready to go on their own !!

Tommy working on his basic obedience with Ally!! The pictures are at a distance because he is very friendly and I didn’t want to disturb him !!

What a lovely dog !! He like so many others are just victims of circumstances. Perfectly friendly, happy dogs waiting to be found in our local NJ shelters.
He lost his family and his housemate but he has been amazingly loving and friendly with all of us.

We are working on basic training and leash walking to give him a leg up but he is really ready to find a home of his own!!!

For now we are seeking a foster home without young children or other animals because we have not completed our assessments.

Little Penny Tripod is a 5 year old rat terrier. True to her breed she is always investigating. She moves so fast on those three little legs it’s amazing to see.

Penny is such a fun dog too - always perky , always happy and always lovable!!
Penny loves her yak chews, walks and being with her people!!

Penny needs a home without cats or birds but can be with other dogs. Preferably a playful one because she loves to play !!
Penny just needs a calm, loving environment to settle into. She is the type of dog that will make you smile everyday !!

Sandy Angel did so well today during her veterinary visit!! She is looking so much better!! ❤️❤️

Sandy is a 10 year old cocker spaniel who was surrendered to the shelter in very bad condition.
Sandy joined our hospice program just 2 weeks ago and we are so thrilled with her progress!!

Both her ears and skin had awful infections. Her skin is looking great and she’ll finish her antibiotics just in case but no more bacteria is present.

Her ears were retreated and we hope to see progress in that area on our next visit.

Sandy will be going in for a Cushings test and once through that hopefully we can have a much needed dental.

Slow and steady for our sweet girl.

Flash nice and safe in his travel crate on his way home from his appointment today 🐾❤️

Special thank you to Dr Debra Fiorito - Bricktown Veterinary Hospital for her care today. Dr Fiorito is a veterinary dental specialist and we are so grateful that she was able to see him so quickly.

Flash is a 9 year old poodle that has some pretty significant issues on both sides of his mouth. He has 2 cracked teeth which have created abscess and infection.
Dr Fiorito explained to us that issues like this can be 2 years in the making. Unfortunately Flash has been in significant pain for some time now.

We thank her for her kindness to Flash today but also for her kindness to our foster Kristen as well. It has been a challenging assignment so far !! Thanks Kristen and Dr Fiorito for all you are doing for Flash ❤️❤️

We have scheduled surgery and we are quite certain that things will be much better moving forward🐾🐾

Getting to know you !!!

Tommy just joined us yesterday so we are taking a little time to get to know him. He is such a good boy !! I took him for a ride as the playyard was solid ice ! We got gas and this handsome guy had nothing but wags for the attendant!!

Tommy is about a year to a year and a half old and very affectionate. He will need some basic obedience but thats it!! He will be meeting both Tara and Ally this week to get him started.

What a nice dog he is!!

The gift we give our dogs will always be the love and dedication of their foster families.

Abandoned, forgotten and not given the skills they needed to succeed - our dogs have much to catch up on.

Patience, love and the willingness to give them what they deserved all along. Changing the life of the dog who needed you most is a gift that is difficult to put into words. There is nothing like it !

We thank our foster families for all they do for the dogs in their care even when it’s hard.

Penny needs a committed foster home to keep her from going to boarding which will break her heart and ours.

Penny Tripod is the type of dog who needs a little time to settle. Found as a stray already missing her right rear leg . We aren’t sure how that happened or what trauma was associated with that. The trauma of being in the shelter was a lot for her too. The person who picked her up from the shelter said in all her years she has never seen a dog so grateful to be rescued.

Penny is a 5 year old rat terrier. Rat terriers are busy but are very affectionate, loving and loyal. She is all of that. She has some social anxiety and is anxious when in busy or new places.
Initial protectiveness of her toys and bones melts away after she knows you and feels safe.

Penny can not be with cats - she fixates on them even if they are seperate but she does like dogs. Another thing that takes her a little time. Seperation by gates for a few days and some patience and it’s all good - a playful dog would be best. She wants to romp with them.

Penny loves her yak chew and chewing seems to calm her - she will not chew anything she isn’t supposed to though !!

Her 3 legs keep her from nothing. In fact you kind of forget she is missing one!!

Penny is a fun dog and the person who gives her the time to settle in will reap the benefits of this very sweet girl. She has been searching for her place for far too long❤️

We know that we have been moving her around a lot but she returned this weekend to where she started and she settled in easily. She slept peacefully in her crate, played with toys, enjoyed the snow and sat on the couch to enjoy the Super Bowl.
