Kobe has been waiting three months for adoption, and we know his new best friend is out there! While he appears shy and hangs in the back of his run when visitors approach, staff share that when Kobe is outside, he transforms into a whole new dog. His goofy and happy personality come to life when he has space to play and time to warm up to new people. 😃 🐕 While he hasn't lived with other dogs, Kobe has loved playing outside with them in the shelter.

Could you be the one to give this deserving 1-year-old pittie mix the loving home he’s been waiting for? 🏠 Meet Kobe at our C**n Rapids adoption center. P.S. Ask the staff if you can take him for a walk! ahs.mn/meet-kobe

Happy Tail! This AHS adoption success story was shared from an animal lover like you! Have you adopted a dog from Animal Humane Society? Emily says:

"After years of waiting for the right opportunity, I was finally able to provide a good home for a cat. My partner and I visited and had planned on finding an adult cat with experience with other animals, but ended up falling in love with this 4-month-old fluffball named Salad.

He was found in a park with his litter mates and was very skeptical of people, but he reluctantly accepted pets and even purred. It took him a while to acclimate to our home and learn that he was safe and loved, but once he had we knew he was a perfect fit for our family. He is such a weird and goofy little guy with the funniest loud meow, and we couldn’t imagine our lives without him. Ever since that day he has brought us endless joy and laughter, and in turn we give him all the love, treats, toys, and snuggles he could ever want! Thank you so much for bringing us together! We love Salad so much!"

A new year is a new beginning for everyone — animals included! These animals made resolutions for their fresh starts, and they want you to know how they’re holding up:

Hampton the dog promised to work on his counter surfing tendencies. He’s got a little ways to go, but this clever pup has made great strides.

Charlotte the cat made a pledge to come out of her shell — and so far, this brave girl has done a great job exploring her curious side.

Dash the rat hoped to keep his family together, and that’s exactly what he did! He now lives with his siblings in Animal Humane Society’s very own adoption offices.

New beginnings come in all shapes and sizes. Whether it’s finding a new home, receiving training or life-changing medical care, or being a positive force in our community, AHS is there to help the dogs, cats, and critters that need us.

No matter your resolutions in 2025, we hope you’ll help us provide even more new beginnings for our furry friends. ahs.mn/Give2Animals

"We had been thinking of adding a dog to our family and would scroll through Animal Humane Society website every so often. In January 2023, we came across Echo’s smiling face and adopted him the very next day!

He has been the BEST boy! He loves walks and playing with his cat siblings. But most of all, he LOVES his dad. We are so fortunate to have Echo as our fur baby!"

Animal Humane Society

Since 1878, Animal Humane Society has been engaging the hearts, hands, and minds of the community to help animals. Every year we care for more than 23,000 animals in need and help thousands more through programs for people and pets.

As the leading animal welfare organization in the Upper Midwest, AHS is transforming the way shelters care for animals and engage their communities. From innovative medical and behavior programs to investments in outreach and advocacy, we’re advancing animal welfare and creating a more humane world for animals everywhere.

Our three Twin Cities adoption centers are more than just a great place to find and adopt the perfect pet. Friendly animal experts at each location offer services and support for every stage of an animal’s life. Plus, we work with individuals and organizations across Minnesota and beyond, advocating for the health and safety of animals, no matter where they are.
