Meet Humane Educator, Mikayla! Mikayla is a passionate educator and ambassador for AHS. Let’s find Sheffield a loving home! 💙

This 2-year-old husky mix has been patiently waiting for three months to find a new family to call his own. He has won the hearts of our staff and volunteers who share that “Sheffield will first dazzle you with his beautiful deep blue eyes, then dazzle you with his beautiful soul! He is a sweet boy who loves to be active, play with his toys, and curl up by you after a long day of fun. His favorite activity is swimming, he loves to splash around in the pool and play fetch in the water.”

Sheffield already knows how to sit and lay down on cue, and he loves to work for treats! 💕Although Sheffield would prefer a home without children under the age of eight, he loves doggie friends.

"My fiancé and I were on the search for a sweet, sociable kitten who would get along well with our 2 adopted dogs. We visited Animal Humane Society's C**n Rapids location in hopes to visit with a specific cat, then we saw Toph (Tallulah) in a separate room off to the side.

She immediately came to the front of her kennel in hopes for pets and we knew she was the one for us! We put her on an adoption hold, had to wait for her to shake her sickness, and we were able to pick her up 3 weeks later.

Toph adapted extremely quickly, loves the dogs, and is thriving in her new home!! She loves her wand toy and will carry it around the house, cuddling with the dogs, exploring, and playing fetch. Thanks to the amazing staff at C**n Rapids for their support and care while she was sick! She was worth the wait :)"

Happy Make A Dog's Day! 🐶🎉 Animal Humane Society is honored to partner with Luther White Bear Subaru as part of their annual month.

Today, October 22, our friends at Subaru are helping us celebrate the 6th annual National Make A Dog’s Day – a day created by Subaru to encourage all dog lovers to do something special for their dog. 🐾 They’ve supplied tasty mini ruff cakes from Must be Ruff to all the dogs in our shelters, deliciously de-lick-able Churu for our feline friends, and fresh veggies for the critters in our care. "I was very careful about choosing a cat and waited around eight months before finding and adopting Holly. But as soon as I walked into her room, I knew she was coming home with me. It’s been two months since I adopted her but I feel like we’re known for years. I know her favorite spots to take a nap and which toys she likes. She knows that when I walk towards my room at night it’s time to go to bed and cuddle. I think she’s probably the most perfect cat in the world and I am so lucky to have found her at Animal Humane Society."

Meet Oakley.💙

Oakley came to Animal Humane Society from Mississippi at 5-months-old. Our veterinarians examined her right away and found something strange. Oakley had suffered a head wound in the past, but it didn’t heal properly. After a tough start to her life, Oakley was finally able to get the care she needed.

Just a few days after arriving at AHS, Oakley underwent surgery to carefully clean and repair her wound.

After her surgery, Oakley recuperated with the help of a foster volunteer. While in their care, Oakley learned how to socialize, enjoyed plenty of playtime, and had someone to provide necessary post-operative care. When she returned to AHS for a check-up, Oakley’s sutures were ready to come out and the sweet pup made her way to the adoption floor.

Oakley went home with her new family only one month after coming to AHS. In her new home, Oakley is free to live the life of a healthy, energetic puppy.

"Hello! You probably get quite a lot of updates of happy adoption stories, and I’d like to add another, from way back in 2006! I adopted a little kitten named Luigi (now Talon) on October 7, 2006 from the C**n Rapids location. Now 18 years later, he’s happy and enjoying each day. He occasionally still gets a bit zoomie, just for not as long of bursts as he used to. He’s an expert at finding cozy nap spots, appreciating a warm lap, and at playing nose work games that he learned from his dog brothers. I’d love to see how his kitty siblings turned out if any other Mario themed kitties adopted in October 2006 happen to see this! Thanks for all you do! My life is forever better with Talon (formerly known as Luigi)."
