Salon du Paws will be opening soon this summer next to Boyers Nursery. I offer humane and holistic pet grooming.
I am a Fear Free Certified Professional Groomer, meaning I work *with* your pet and celebrate the baby steps while building confidence, trust, and mutual respect. I do not rush and force the process so I can get more dogs done and make more money. I take time to build a loving relationship with your furbaby to help set them up for success!
I am also a Certified Canine Esthetician. I have completed extensive education on specific skin and coat ailments and am credentialed to work with your vet on therapy plans to help soothe and repair skin and coat that is suffering from dry flaky skin, icky weepy yeast, oil build up, excessive shedding, allergies, hot spots, hormonal imbalance, dietary failures, etc. I am NOT a vet and do not diagnose, but I do work *with* your vet to come up with a complementary therapy plan to help your pup look and feel their best. I also put my education to good use and have crafted some of my own special spa treatments, including sugar rubs, herbal mud masks, and fullbody effervescent muscle soaks for the pets that just need a self-care day ๐ 24k gold body scrubs? Manuka honey masks? Shea butter paw balm? I got em! Every special spa product is crafted by hand, by me, with the utmost care and sanitation to ensure the best experience for everyone!
I am also AKC S.A.F.E. Certified in salon sanitation, safety, first aid, and CPR, and certified through the AKC in the breed standard grooming of golden retrievers, cocker spaniels, Australian shepherds, west highland terriers, and bicon frises.
I am a master reiki practitioner as well that specializes in animal energy work, if that's something that interests you. Reiki is recognized as a complementary therapy for chronic pain, anxiety, depression, arthritis, inflammation, and so many other ailments.
I have a variety of other certifications and credentials available as well that document my commitment to continuing education and staying up to date on current research.
And yes, I groom cats!! I love working with felines, because every visit is a humbling experience and a lesson in trust and consent.
I have a firm code of ethics in place and believe that, above all, humanity comes before vanity, and compassion comes before fashion. I will never hold a dollar higher than a living soul.
My prices do reflect the time, education, high quality products, and personalized services. My traditional grooming is all inclusive. If your baby needs deshedding, they get it. It's not a $20 add-on, because to me, part of a proper groom is taking care of everything. Nails are trimmed or filed based on the preference and tolerance of the pet. Ears cleaned, and ear hair plucked or trimmed based on the pet's preference. Glands expressed upon request, unless there is visible inflammation or immediate discomfort.
Therapeutic grooming does cost more due to additional time taken away from the shop to communicate with your vet, draft a therapy plan, and formulate a custom treatment. This is a highly specialized service I have spent several years researching and developing.
What I do isn't for everyone, as some people do just want a quick "dip, dry, trim, and go" type of service for as cheap as possible. There are groomers out there who specialize in everything and have a niche for everyone. Everyone wants something different, and there are plenty of dogs to go around.
I specialize in individualized care with a personal touch, perfect for anxious babies and cranky seniors and pets that just need a little extra time and love.
I am so excited to bring my services to DeRidder! I can't wait to meet all your furbabies ๐
