URGENT DEADLINE - 5pm 8/7/24 - 12 puppies at PACC need lifesaving support
Due to PACC coordinating two large impounds of dogs, they are in the midst of a managed intake for over 50 cattle dog mixes that have been consistently found at large and involved in altercations with livestock, including chickens. These dogs will be brought into the shelter in small groups over the next few weeks and will undergo a mandatory quarantine period due to their exposure to livestock. During quarantine, they will receive preventative treatment and a behavioral evaluation to determine their placement.
Due to PACC’s severe overcrowding as well as this group’s lack of socialization, they anticipate that many of these dogs will be placed on a deadline soon after their entry to the shelter.
The first group of dogs consists of 12 young pups between 4 months to 2 years of age. They have been nicknamed the “Snack Pack” due to their food-based names. While they are shy and nervous with minimal exposure to normal household routines, they are already warming up here at the shelter. PACC believes this group can be rehabilitated with the right support that unfortunately is more than the shelter currently has the resources to provide.
All these dogs will be placed on an emergency placement deadline FOR ADOPTION ONLY through PACC. Although these dogs are currently in our livestock quarantine, they are cleared for adoption and can meet potential adopters and participate in dog introductions. At time of adoption (or rescue transfer), they will receive any remaining antibiotics to take home and will be scheduled to return to PACC for spay/neuter appointments.
So! Meet the ‘Snack Pack’, a group of 12 dogs who are used to living life out on their own. These pups are shy and nervous at first and need a patient adopter to allow them time to warm up to new people and situations. The pack has spent the majority of their young lives running at large, and need a home that can properly contain them. They do not do well with livestock as a pack and would do best in a home without large livestock or chickens. These dogs have spent their entire lives together, but unfortunately due to livestock exposure have not yet been able to be evaluated with dogs inside of PACC walls.
These pups are looking for a special home willing to give them time to adjust. They may do best with another confident dog in the home to show them the ropes of how to live with a family. They are shy, but have the potential with time and patience to open up. They need someone understanding enough to give them space and with the time to work on handling and leash training. If you are interested in providing one of these pups with a quiet, supportive home where they can learn what it means to be someone’s best friend, please come meet them!
We are expecting more details on the individuals pictured below. (links to their individual profiles are in the comments) We wanted to post them as soon as possible to give them the best chance at finding placement out of the shelter. They will need to find adoptive homes or rescue placement by 5pm Wednesday 8/7/24.
