Horses FOR LEASE at High Plains Arena (Wilmot/Sahuarita Road south of Tucson)

Savannah -- 19 year old grade pinto mare, 14hh. Requires a confident rider. No bad behavior, but if the rider isn't the boss she will decide that she is 😉 Trails or arena.

Lady -- 21 year old grade gray mare, 14.3hh. Trails or arena. Peppy and forward horse, requires intermediate or better rider.

Willie -- 19 year old 16.2hh grade gelding. Currently used in a lesson program with riders ages 5-13. Great in the arena and on the trail too.

Picante -- 23 year old 14.2hh gold champagne Peruvian mare. Gaited, fantastic trail horse.

Lucky -- 17 year old 14.3hh bay overo APHA mare. Best horse I've ever owned. Parades, trails, arena, she does it all! Lots of clinics under her belt AND she has Extreme Wylene's emergency stop on her!

Scout -- 16 year old 14.3hh bay gaited mare. Fantastic trail horse AND she's a movie star! She was in What Must Be Done, filmed at Gammon's Gulch last September. She handled all the chaos of a movie set perfectly, and took care of her inexperienced rider.

Saddles for sale! $400 each. Green one includes a headstall. Here's the details:

Practically new 15" saddle by Royal King. Immaculate condition, ridden in only a few times. Leather needs some conditioning because it is still so new. Roughout seat and fenders to keep you secure in the roughest terrain, 7" gullet and FQHB fits most horses. Includes latigo, billet, and back cinch.

15" Y&Z Enterprises saddle with matching headstall. Gullet measures 7" but it seems to have SQHB and fits narrower shark-finned horses best (think Thoroughbreds, running quarter horses, Arabians, etc.) Great condition but it needs a new billet and latigo. Leather could use some conditioning since it is on the cheaper end and quite stiff, but otherwise this is a great starter set.

QUALITY saddle for sale! It might be old and ugly, and it might have a few dings, but this classic Hereford will outlive you! It has a 16" seat, 8" gullet and FQHB. It fits nicely on most of my stock horses. This thing is HEAVY, which is the only reason it is for sale. I can't gracefully lift it on my horses. The leather is soft and good quality. The fleece is okay but showing wear in some spots and will need replacement at some point, but the saddle is ready to ride off into the sunset today.

Horses FOR LEASE at High Plains Arena (Wilmot/Sahuarita Road south of Tucson). All horses currently used in our farm school program. To lease, you must be an intermediate or better rider with soft hands and a balanced seat. Kids under 12 allowed only with experienced adult. Not to this point yet? I also give lessons! $250 half lease, three days a week.

Lucky (pictured) -- 17 year old APHA mare, 14.3hh, trails or arena.

Savannah -- 23 year old pinto mare, 14hh, trails or arena.

Willie -- 20 year old bay gelding, 16hh, arena.

Scout -- 16 year old bay gaited mare, 14.2hh, trails or arena.

Picante -- 23 year old gold champagne Peruvian mare, 14.3hh, trails or arena.

Okie -- 24 year old AQHA mare, 15.1hh, arena.

Horses available for relocation to your pasture:

Annie -- 16 year old BLM mustang mare. Currently has a 3 month old foal on her side. Options with or without the foal. Worked in a commercial trail string, rides in the arena too.

Zoe -- 6-8 year old draft cross mare, gray. Saddled but not backed yet. Easy project to finish.

Red -- 13 year old sorrel mare, former recip mare. Nicely broke, but shy. Best as a one-person horse.

Wendy -- 3 year old mini mule. Started halter breaking, needs work.

I'm so happy with these glow-ups! My secret to getting skinny horses healthy and shiny? Free choice forage pellets (I love Unbeetable brand but a close second is DuMOR Alfalfa/Bermuda blend because they are soft and easy for these old guys to chew), beet pulp, electrolytes, Purina Strategy Healthy Edge, and Purina Equitub with Clarifly.

Horses for on-site lease at High Plains Arena:

Annie -- 16 year old BLM mustang mare, 14.3hh, NWHR. Arenas or trails. Worked a commercial trail string for two years. Very well broke with all the fancy buttons. Jumps and knows the barrel pattern. Super fun, fast, forward horse! Currently has a foal on her side, but baby just follows while you ride. Mom and baby also available for relocation to your pasture, or mom by herself after weaning in September.

Scout -- 16 year old gaited trail mare, 14.2hh. Ridden independently by kids as young as 3. Hates the arena, but point her down the trail and she'll take you over/under/through/across anything. May be available to relocate to your pasture. She's my personal favorite trail horse, but I'd let her go to the right situation.

Picante -- 23 year old Peruvian mare, 14hh. Trails or arena. She is so much fun and perfect for anyone with an achy back and joints. Once you ride a Peruvian you won't want to go back to anything else!

Okie -- 24 year old AQHA mare, 15.1hh. Okie was my personal show horse, and we showed working hunters up to 4' all across the Western US and Canada. Her jumping days are over but she's a fantastic arena horse ready to teach the next rider how to win in the show ring. Arena only, she's too much of a diva for trails.

$200 half lease, $400 full lease. Horses for relocation are 6k each, possibly negotiable to right situation. PM me for more information.

The unicorn you've been searching for! This is one of Spanky's babies, coming 3, already broke and working the stockyards. He has Spanky's same quiet temperament and trainability all wrapped up in a pretty bay package. Sire is old school Hancock bred, dam is an own daughter of Tanquerey Gin (Doc O'Lena/Doc Bar). I am a HUGE proponent of helmets (I wouldn't be here today without one). It's required here for every rider, every time. Our farm school needs to replace some older helmets, so for just $50 you can buy a kid a helmet AND we'll put your business logo on it! For $500 you can buy all the kids helmets, get your logo on all of them, and put your banner in my arena for a year.

On Tuesday I had Savannah Taylor evaluate The Red Mare. She came out of Bowie with a recip mare brand on her and no known history other than allegedly being broke to ride. Savannah was kind and patient with her and went through all the steps just like she would starting a c**t. Turns out The Red Mare is REALLY broke with lots of fancy buttons. She's shy and really worried about ropes, but we'll work through that. Otherwise she was perfect. I'll have Savannah do a few more rides on her before I swing a leg over myself, but it looks like she'll be staying here.

Luna is looking for a home. She was part of the livestock lien settlement that I got in August, and I sold her to a friend shortly after that. My friend's needs/circumstances have changed, and Luna needs a new human to love her. She is 11 years old, cremello, grade, and around 14.2hh. Easy to handle on the ground, good with her feet, jumps right in the trailer, easy to catch in the pasture. She was broke to ride, and was ridden a bit at Horse Haven last fall when I sent her to a trainer friend of mine, but she could use a solid restart. She has been exposed to my AQHA palomino stallion Potagolds Spankin Nu for a late February 2025 foal, guaranteed to be either cremello or palomino. Foal could be registered Half Quarter Horse and potentially Palomino. She always has a home here as a broodmare/recip mare, but she has much more potential than that with her whole life ahead of her. My consistency sucks (thanks ADHD) so I'm not the right person to take on project horses. She needs to be someone's one and only. She isn't suited for a lesson program or a situation where she would be ridden by a a bunch of different people. Asking eight Benjamin Franklins, open to trades. What are you doing this Saturday? I'd LOVE if you'd come volunteer at our Easter event! We'll have a petting zoo, pony rides, egg hunt, farmer's market, food trucks, and Cow Patty Bingo.
