This viral tweet is funny because it’s true—and it’s the perfect example of a big dog training truth:

🐾 Dogs don’t speak English.
They don’t know what “shut up” means unless we teach them what it’s supposed to cue.

If your dog barks when you yell at them, they might think you’re barking with them.
Excitement, volume, and tone matter way more to them than your actual words.

So if you want a “quiet” cue to work?
✅ Pick a consistent cue
✅ Reward the silence
✅ Stay calm (even when you want to scream into the void)

Your dog isn’t being defiant. They just haven’t been taught what you think you’re saying.
