Instead of boarding & training dogs, how about boarding & training humans?!!!
TLSD Bretagne likes to help me out when we go shopping.
( I should have her carry her stinky poop bags too! Bol) Way to go Bretagne!! 🥰❤️
Although this is a short video, there's a lot going on:
-picks up object (task training)
-loose leash walking
-holding object
-engagement with me
-waits when asked
-sits
-releases object in my hand

Having fun with LUNA!
Learning the 'CENTER'
cue.
Work in progress!
Training should always be fun...Even if it's not perfect.
BETHANY❤️
Not only is she stinking cute, she's also very smart and eager to please!
Thanks to those (my sisters) who rescue!

LEAVE IT CUE
"Leave it" to me, means my dog will never have the object, with the exception of their food/treats I give them or their toys.
* (Some dogs are trained to retrieve certain items.)
There's no gray area and therefore, no confusion.🚫
In order to teach this behavior effectively, you should set up scenarios often, in a controlled manner so your dog succeeds.
After many successful repetitions, create more challenging situations. Eventually the cue, "Leave It" is IMPLIED.
Try not to draw attention to things you don't want your dog to have. For example, if you see a squirrel in the distance during your walk and you repeat the "Leave It" cue over and over and over,
not only are you drawing attention to the squirrel in the distance, you are also diluting the meaning of the cue. Blah, blah, blah!🙄
LEAVE IT teaches your pup impulse control! Every dog should know this valuable command.
Just because I see chocolate, doesn't mean that I can have the chocolate! BOL 🤪🤣
Be the leader your dog needs you to be 😉

Is your dog giving you a "hard time" or is your dog having a tough time, understanding your expectations?
Often clients will say to me that, "my dog knows this command but is being stubborn," or "my dog is ignoring me."
Dogs don't generalize well.
They are very contextual creatures.
Often during training we may think our dog is being stubborn, ignoring us or we may chalk their behavior up to being an adolescent dog, when in reality, our dog is having a tough time generalizing in a specific environment.
For instance, my dog loves to retrieve items for me at home, on cue. However, when we are in a different environment, she may need my help to understand my expectations.
We need to train our dogs in a variety of situations and locations in order to build confidence and achieve reliability and overall training success.
Your dog may be having a hard time and not giving you a hard time. Keep this is mind.
LUNA🥰 loves to retrieve items for me. I'm so clumsy !

I'm working on desensitizing my pups to the sounds of fireworks.
They couldn't care less.

practicing the "down" command from quite a distance. Then, she nailed the "recall" command along with a "sit" and then released with "free."
