We did a thing!!!

Yesterday we finalized the deal on a new rescue and sanctuary property!

10 rural acres with an 1800sqft kennel structure on property. 18 indoor kennels, 11 outdoor runs, and 3 fenced in play areas!

One week before this we attended Unlock your Super Power with Lee Asher of the The Asher House at the Hard Rock Live Orlando. This reignited the fire inside us and we left that night ready to make some big moves.

The next day we found this place on Marketplace.

Saturday we drove out and toured the property.

And last night we signed the lease.

Everything is happening super fast and we have a lot to do but big dreams and big goals are accomplished through consistent action!

Thank you, Universe! We are grateful for this opportunity and we look forward to sharing our purpose and our passion with the world. We are answering your call to serve!

Getting Luna all updated on her vaccines and cleared of any health issues. She's scheduled to stay with me in Board and Train til Monday the 12th when we will do an intro to her new home!

So far, she's doing really well, even with all the invasive poking and prodding. Right now we are waiting on the Doc to come in and give her her rabies vaccine and then we should be out of here.

Aero! Another lifer here at the Rescue. Before coming to me, Aero was found in his home with his owner who had passed away a few days before. He lived at SEVHS for nearly two years before my stint as ED.

I got him on medications and moved him into my office rather than the dungeon like kennel area he had been in for a long time deteriorating. He has a confinement issue when people would close the door to his kennel or my office and would show aggressive behavior. He still has this habit sometimes despite lots of work on it.

When I departed the shelter I was given an ultimatum... come back and get him and two other dogs or they were going to be euthanized under the new leadership. They had moved him back and he was regressing rapidly and they had stopped his meds. The shelter life created his behavior challenges and they owed it to him to do better for him and since they wouldn't... I did.

Aero and I have had our share of friction but I still love him and I understand why he is the way he is. He's one of my most challenging dogs in my rescue and I've got scars to prove it. He is the way he is because of what other people did to him and failed to do for him. Recognizing his traumatic history and respecting his needs allows me to give him the best life he's known since his owner passed all those years ago.

This sanctuary for behaviorally challenged dogs isn't all sunshine and rainbows. It's hard for everyone at times but these dogs deserved better humans in their lives.

In today's controversial and polarized dog training world this post might be the best thing I've seen in months! Thank you, The Collared Scholar for this. I left the labels behind a couple years ago now and haven't really been able to articulate exactly why. But this post is succint and very well put together.

Me & the big guy had a little chat about what HIS perfect happily ever after would look like…

Blanco’s wish list is pretty short & simple!

1. 3 meals a day
2. A soft bed
3. Leisurely walks
4. Belly Rubs
5. Treats 🦴

A bit about Blanco:
He’s been at the shelter for over 700 days!! He is a 6-7 year old, 80 pound American Bulldog. Good with other dogs but not a fan of small children or cats. He’s neutered, microchipped & up to date on vaccines.

If you like to take walks, nap & eat snacks then you just might be his ideal forever human!!

We would really love to get him out of the shelter & see him snuggled on a big comfy couch of his own for the holidays!!
