Part-Time Dog Walker

Location: Lake Country Area

Job Description: Are you an animal lover who enjoys spending time outdoors? We're looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and responsible Part-Time Dog Walker to join our team! In this role, you'll have the opportunity to take care of dogs while providing them with much-needed exercise and companionship. If you're passionate about animals and enjoy getting outside, we’d love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

Walk dogs of various breeds and sizes for scheduled walks
Ensure dogs are safe, comfortable, and well-behaved during walks
Monitor dog behavior and report any unusual activity or concerns to the owner
Provide basic care, such as feeding or bathroom breaks when necessary
Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards both dogs and owners
Qualifications:

Experience with dogs, either personal or professional, is preferred
Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and energy levels
Reliable, punctual, and responsible
Good communication skills
Must be physically able to walk for extended periods of time
Must have a valid driver’s license and access to transportation (if required)

Schedule:
Our Ideal Candidates will be available:
Mon/Wed/Fri OR Tues/Thurs
9:00am-2:00pm OR 10:00am- 3:00Pm

Compensation:
Starting Pay $17.50 + .75 Cents per mile (avg 30 miles per shift)

What I forgot to go over in my video is always start in your home! This is a crucial step and often missed. You want to get eight out of 10 successful repetitions and at least three different rooms of your home before you attempt to take this out to your yard. Get eight out of 10. Successful repetitions in your driveway then move the criteria up to public walkways eight out of 10. Successful repetitions before you attempt to move to public spaces or stores if at any point, your dog starts pulling again or tries to start out in front of you. You’ve moved too far too fast go back to where they were last successful practice several more times before trying the harder step again.

Door bolting is a huge issue for a lot of dogs that come to daycamp with us and is one of the things that we work very hard to change

This video shows the end goal And is not to represent the entire training process (disclaimer you will not achieve these results first try using positive reinforcement only)

We put each dog in a sit stay then Using an inside door we body block and close the door every time the dog attempts to get up when we reach for or attempt to open the door and repeat until the dog stays while we open the door

The reward is what we call a life reward, which is us giving them their release word and calling them through the doorway
